The first support staff member who i was in contact with by submitting an email ticket, yesterday sent me a reply (after i asked them if theres any other way to solve this without me sending the phone away) that i need to send back the phone to a service center to fix the issue.

I'm not gonna do that. It's an 1000€ phone which not 2weeks old. My phone also has moderate image retention and green/red tint at low brightness. i waited 2weeks for all of this to be fixed but nothing changed. I asked for a replacement unit, and now awaiting my shipping label.

If you guys in between the 15days while they exchange/refund your phones i think you should seriously consider getting a replacement or a refund like i did.

    Update regarding my case:

So the German support now also told me that this is a software issue that'll be resolved with the next OTA update. Fingers crossed that's true!

15.5.6 was the system update which went out a few weeks ago.

That being said, I just noticed that version 15.5.8 is available as of today, so I immediatly installed it. Unfortunately, my Widevine level is still set to L3, so the "next update" did not fix it.

And another OP8Pro with 8/128 downgraded also down to Level 3, so much for the upgrade from OP5

not unlocked, not rooted and only OTA updates to 10.5.8

I think that this is a bigger issue than the green tinted screen in some corner cases (low backlight and large gray areas) which probably becomes the oled version of lcd clouding.
Having the possibility of rooting and open source kernel is nice for some, but for normal consumers this doesn't matter and they will notice that content is just SD on this huge phone screen.

Same issue for me. 12/256 Green UK. Tried updating to 10.5.8 to see if that would fix it, but no. Never unlocked, just updated, NETFLIX HDR worked a few days ago

Same here, OP 8Pro 8/128. First I thought it a problem with the app, because Q&A on the Netflix page says OP 8 and Pro is not supported.
    I am on 10.5.8

I got my second (replacement) OnePlus 8 Pro back today (returned due to the well-documented green tint/black bar issues..). When I powered up this new one it had the 10.5.6 update available. I checked DRM Info before upgrading and it was on Widevine L1. Just upgraded the system to 10.5.6 and it is still on L1. So looks like this strange issue wasn't there.

    My model is 12GB RAM/256GB.
