I did my update yesterday and I noticed that I lost 10% overnight in 7 hours. I've had the phone for over 3 weeks and prior to the update I've never lost more than 4% overnight. The battery life is something that I loved about this phone.....this past weekend I got 58 hours out of a single charge. I really hope there is a quick fix from cyanogen for this

Everyone: This appears to be a problem cause by the proximity sensor being on all the time, draining battery. This is not causing Android OS or Google Services to eat up more of your battery. That is likely a wakelock. This issue is not showing up in any battery stats. The device is just using more juice.

It's not a wakelock so rebooting won't help. This isn't a core android bug effecting all 4.4 devices. This is effecting every One that has been updated to 4.4. You might not notice it, specially if you are using your phone a lot, but its definitely there.

I observed that too. I just tried to prolong the battery life per charge by enabling battery saving in the setting.

This is happening to me as well. I thought I was just being paranoid, but now I know I'm not alone.
I hope this get fixed soon. I have no patience to reflash everything again.

If the proximity sensor is the problem, I'd like a way to turn it off. I have all gestures turned on (camera, torch, music, double tap) and have never had a single problem with pocket-anything happening. Maybe I just wear thicker pants than y'all? :) So I'd love the ability to turn that off if it's a battery hog.

    Just sayin'

Not really, the gestures I leave off so the phone in pocket issue was not a problem for me, so IF the implemented fix via the proximity sensor IS causing a problem with battery drain then I at least would like the option to turn this off and put the phone back to the state it was in when on 25R software.

I am definitely seeing this issue with the update. Does anyone know if there is a drain like this in the cyanogenmod 11 m9 release? I think they enabled tap to wake on that and other gestures.

Exactly. By all accounts, turning off the gestures does not stop the drain. I can't believe this issue got by testing so easily. I mean, come on.

I figured they tested these builds on clean flashes on several devices, but I guess not. The JIRA issue has over a hundred up votes as of this writing.

I just updated a few hours ago and after rebooting and charging to fill, it is apparent that something SERIOUSLY wrong is going on with battery drain. I've had my phone for over a month and the idle battery draw was less than 1% per hour. Now it's bleeding at over 3% per hour in the exact same environment.

Perhaps instead making up new ways to wreck their public image with stupid contests, 1+ should be properly QAing what CM is doing.

Disabling double tap to wake and gestures and rebooting afterwards disables the proximity sensor.
The deep sleep drain goes to 17-20mA.
    With the sensor stuck on it's 30-50mA, with 25R it's 7-10mA.
