Just sad about this update. Was hope for solutions but instead we got more issues and a crappy photochrome. The image retention and green tint on my phone wasn't so bad as now. And photochrome looks like normal picture so no revolutionary filter but 2 normal cam modes.

Hmm.. I just tried it again and it seems to be better, maybe there was less invisible IR light yesterday?

The last time I took a picture of my car with the original Photochrom camera it was pure white, but I think the sun was much brighter. It's very cloudy here today.

Yeah! They have messed it up a lot now. Required a lot of light to get the filter working now unlike before. Henceforth no more see through. As compensation the quality of photo increased from 5mp to 12mp.

Enable photochrom filter. In bright natural light outside on grass or a tree... Cover it then.

you keep posting the same pictures. Trust me, the photochrome lens is disabled. If you block the photochrome lens at an angle (use a credit card for example), so there is no way the photochrome lens can see the object, you will still get a picture from the main camera with the poor photochrome effect made from software. So it's a simple trick to have you believe that the lens is still being used. Its a cheap scam. So disappointed in the one plus team.

Ohh yes you are right! Thanks, it produces some photochrom effect something different because I can't see the infrared lights (cellphone sensors, remote control light, Roomba sensors, etc)

I think is not fair and honest to disable a camera on a phone we payed good money for and try to fool us with a fake software option. For example : when I buy a TV with a camera inside for Skype calls and brand x decide the camera could be hacked so they disable it its not worth the payed money anymore cause it loses a for me important function?

So with that you claim it's ALL software and not 2 pictures combined?

Regular green grass. One without covering color filter lens. One covering it. See the differance?

    Dear OnePlus,

I paid a lot of cash for the 8Pro and started loving the IR Camera.
It is very cool to explore things with this camera:
    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...hotochrom-photos.1215930/page-5#post-21693178

The current update has deactivated this camera and replaced it with a cheap software filter. I can already get this filter from Instagram and don´t need to pay for an extra camera.

Because you have cut our smartphones in their functionality, you made a quad-camera into a triple-camera. Since this malfunction was caused by measures taken by OnePlus, I assume that I can request a new, fully functional device under warranty.

As the device no longer corresponds to the advertised features, I demand either the reactivation of the IR camera or a refund.

    Best wishes

What's the point of this update? Why don't they do their adjustments in the China's Hydrogen OS and leave the rest of the world with the normal filter. I think more people will be mad at this than appreciative. I tested the lens outside and also tried to see if it responds to IR light like it used to and it doesn't. The filter seems to be software based with minimal hardware use. What's the point of making good features if they're gonna break it after some backlash. It's just ridiculous. Making the phone more expensive using new innovative components and then ruining them with software is not a good way to go.
