No 20MP camera on the Oneplus 6? Jun 13, 2018

    Hi,
    So I've just been checking my pictures from the front and back camera, and neither are producing 20MP photos.
    Both the front and back cameras produce a resolution of 4608x3456, ie 15.9MP.
    Am I missing a setting somewhere, or have they lied about the camera resolution?

    Main camera sensor is 16mp, secondary sensor is 20mp, but is just used for depth effects and to collect data for the main sensor

    If that's the case, then they shouldn't market the phone as having a 20MP camera, if you can't actually take 20MP pictures with it

    the second sensor is Pretty useless for me! a great deep effect will be got through a good software (pixel 2 xl)....so...
    anyway..we have a very great shots, so I'm satisfied!

    dial *#*#1597#*#* and camera app will open...
    Double tab twice....first double tap front camera opens and then camera 2 i.e. 20mp camera will open....you can check by simply placing u r finger on camera...

    The images will be of 5 MP resultant quality from the sensor...
    it's because of Intelligent Pixel Technology that compress 4 Pixel into one giving 20/4=5 MP quality images...

    The camera is just for enhancement and increasing the details of images captured by primary camera besides Depth effect in portrait...
    u can even record 1080p/720p video with secondary camera... and take HDR pics...

    I wonder why they gave up the formula from the 5T?! in my experience it worked quite well in low light. they should have improved it instead of ditching it.

    or just ditch the whole secondary camera and shave off the price a bit, or put a larger battery in there. but no, it's a marketing thing as people expect that shit from phones now adays -_-

    Ah yeah, like you all said, Ive just read up on it now. I thought it still had the second as a lower res telephoto lens like before.
    Especially with the easily reachable 2x magnify button, seeing as digital zoom is pointless.
    Well, that's a bit of a let down, but the cameras good enough at least

    Pixel 2 effect is not depth it's just digital blurr and looks unrealistic. It also has loads of errors that reviewers hide.
    The best for natural depth are the P20 pro and the S9, I've seen a few from the U12+ and they look pretty good too.

    it's just like Google's 3X digital zoom in it's camera...only it's 2X rather than 3...
    But still 3X zoom in GCam Port for OP6 gives clearer image than 3X in OP camera

    Yup, it's not actual Depth effect....but still digital blur is good in some situation...In depth effect, far the background more the blur... in Pixel it's almost like constant blur...

    In Samsung camera exposure is bit higher and in P20 the shadows are bit overexposed...
    So yes... OnePlus 6 back cam Portrait is actually good...
    I specially like the light effect of circles, star and heart..
