No 5g option in the networks setting via OnePlus 9 Pro

    Hi,
    I have a 5g enabled sim and on another phone I am able to use 5g. However on oneplus 9 pro the 5g option is missing. I am on STC network Saudi Arabia and the 5g band is supported. N78 is STC 5g band and my oneplus model is LE2125 which supports that band. Anyone else facing this issue?

    I don't know if this is a certification issue or something. 8 series had the same problem. I would contact both carrier and Oneplus directly via the support channels on www.oneplus.com/support) and ask for model specific info for that carrier and that network.
    Simply supporting 5G and having the right bands is not enough. Support specific to that phone and carrier may be necessary by any of the involved sides (Oneplus or Carrier).

    Hi, thanks for the response. I am actually working for the same network operator. There is no restriction applied from the ISP end. The phone is simply not sending NR capabilities while sending the attach req.
    I am guessing that the firmware itself blocks 5G based on the PLMN of certain operators (not sure though, this is something oneplus can confirm). This is not the case for Xiaomi/Samsung.

    I have contacted oneplus customer support and they have told me that they will figure out about the issue and let me know via email.

    Now waiting for their response.

    Great. Even better. Maybe a solution is simpler this way since there is no middleman hearing 2 different stories about why it does not work.
    Seen several modifying their devices to make it work.

    Just to update, I just received an email from Oneplus representative that the issue will be fixed in the next update. This amazing support. That was a quick response from the Oneplus team because I contacted them just today.

    I hope you come back and report if it works or not when next update comes (or next update... Or next) so I know you are not just waiting for the next one like forever. So I hope the person saying it is coming is right about it.

    I got my phone updated to the latest version today to Oxygen OS 11.2.4.4.LE15AA, but still 5g is not showing up. I have contacted the support again.

    Hi everyone,
    So I just looked at the traces and the attached request coming from my phone. I can confirm that phone is not even sending 5G bands during attach procedure and sending DCNR Flag as 'not supported' in the attach request. This means the UE/phone itself does not even request 5G NR.

    I have contacted oneplus again and they told me that they will again check and get back to me.


    Below is the trace snippet for DC NR Flag.

    | ...0 .... | Dual connectivity with NR: Not supported

    Moreover, the below band is missing from the UE capability info message by the phone: -

    SupportedBandNR-r15 | 1111 1111 |
    bandNR-r15: 78 | 1111 1100 |

    Just to clarify, you have tried setting the network mode to NR/LTE/TDSCDLTE/GSM/WCDMA in *#*#4636#*#* ?
    If you have set it to 4G/3G/2G in the phone settings it of course does not try to connect to 5G-NSA or 5G-SA. And if the 5G/4G/3G/2G option isn't available just do it through the menu above.
