Iv'e been an avid OnePlus One user, till I've had my hands on the OP2.
Unlike the CS operating system in the OnePlus One or the stock android as available on Samsung, the Oxygen OS unfortunately does not have a Gallery Icon/shortcut and is replaced by a Files folder.

This I personally find very intimidating, and annoying primarily of two reasons.
    1. the Gallery in the stock android/or the CS automatically saves the video/image /audio file which was sent/received with any chat/watsapp even if you delete the file/chat from the chat application.
    2. the oxygen OS does not retain the file (image/video/audio) if the chat is deleted and leaves an blank thump-image which cant' be deleted.

    could anyone recommend any solutions.

    You have "Photos" app.

If you dsnt like it, you can use another gallery app like QuickPic.

I've seen a similar thing with WhatsApp videos. When I delete Videos from within Whatsapp, and I go into "Files" app's "Videos" section, I still see thumbs of deleted videos (also displayed are their sizes). And, as many times I try to delete them, I can't and the app crashes. But I don't see these thumbs anywhere else. Like, if I go into the internal storage section under files app, and then browse to Whatsapp/Media/Whatsapp Video, I don't see those "leftovers". Similarly, I downloaded a third party explorer app and I can't see these annoying thumbs in there, either.

Now, I am not very doubtful that these ghost videos still occupy space, because no app can detect them. But if they do, we have a bigger problem at hand to tackle.

    Work-Around

@shafiqueadam & @jyubil, since I lost my sleep because of these mysterious videolets/imagelets. And I feared, they would bring about the zombie apocalypse, I had to find a way to get rid of them. So here's how I managed:

    1. I installed & opened the latest version of "ES File Explorer".
    2. Enabled viewing of hidden files (This step may not be necessary)
    3. Selected "Homepage" tab, for me it had 4 tabs and by default "Local" would open. I had to swipe left in order to go to "Homepage"
    4. This page has different sections for Images, Music, Movies, Documents & App.
    5. Since I was having trouble with Videos, I clicked Movies and there were the ghost videos.
    6. I tried to select and delete and....................Bingo!

    1)Open play store
2)search for "ES file" in the bar and select "ES File Explorer File Manager"
    3)Click Install
4)Click Accept when it shows app permissions
    5)Wait till it gets downloaded/installed.

Also Quickpic gallery is the best in my opinion
