NORD pre-book(ers) - Wish your price(INR). via OnePlus Community App

  1. G_Kevin_Thomas_seEZ , via OnePlus Community App , Jul 2, 2020 :
Please comment down a reasonable price for the so called leaked specs that you are willing to pay for the NORD, especially that the pre - orders are happening prior to a price reveal and also from my understanding they are non refundable.

I've taken a bit of a gamble on this unknown device, but I trust OnePlus won't let me down after all these years (please don't let me down OP!).

Of course, I'd love to only have to pay the £20 I've already laid down for the Nord - which I know is never going to happen - but I've not given much thought to how much the RRP will be.

We already know the team initially planned to make a smartphone they can sell for less than $500. After some rough calculations I'm going to guess £400 and ₹28,999.

I've just checked and £400 would put the Nord in dangerous waters. For around that sort of money a customer in the UK could buy an Apple iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy A71, Google Pixel 3A XL, or an OPPO Find X2 Lite or Huawei P30. Without knowing the Nord's specs, I have to assume it will retail for less than £400.

If the Nord is to stand out from the crowd it's got to do something no-one else is doing. I don't think the average customer at that price point is going to be swayed by specs alone. Maybe 5G surfing will be enough, although OP has already been beaten to the punch by the OPPO Find X2 Lite (and the HONOR 9X Lite and HONOR 20e for more than half the price).

Exactly my thoughts on the matter. For non techies or regular users, there are way better options to pick from the price range, even the ones from the parent company. I am just hanging on for the OS combined with the possibly better camera optimisation.

For them to make a difference, they will have to undercut the competition with their pricing, in the true OnePlus fashion.

Really can't see it selling for under £400 if the rumoured specs are correct.

    5G connectivity
    4000mah battery
    30w charger
    90hz amoled display
    Metal and glass build

I think your original guess of £400 was a good shout, my guess was somewhere between £400 and £450.

The rumoured euro price is “under" €500, which probably means €499.

The specs and the brand power do point to this, but it will beat their purpose of trying to capture the midrange market because people who like midrange products might not care about any brand loyality over price.
Atleast thats how the Indian market works. Dont have any first hand experience about the UK and the European markets.

I would say around £350-£375 seeing it wouldn't be a flagship phone just a good mid range phone, Xiaomi make many good mid to approaching top of the range phones with 5G for £400-£500.

Actually that's how it MUST work out in the market. Brand loyalty is nothing, unless your whole life or business depend on it. Otherwise price, benefits and profit should make a deal. Like why should anyone even stick to the brand, whose only matter of existence is to make money, like any other business?)

If OP has gone the route of designing the Nord to be a premium product at low cost (metal and glass, etc) then it will go for around £400. However, I think that could damage OP's flagship business - why would you pay twice the price for a OP8T?

If they're trying to win the mass-market by undercutting the competition with an affordable 5G smartphone, I feel OP need a price tag under £400.

That might be how you feel, but you only need to look to Apple's iPhone to find an example of strong brand loyalty.
