The Camera sensor is Hardware designed to an aspect ratio of 4:3, so you ll get Pictures in the size of 3000 : 4000 Pixels, but:
You Display is NOT designed in 4.3 aspect ratio-

DisplayFluid AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with HDR10+ support
    ( Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OnePlus_8 )

To fit a picture to achieve a full display screen you would have to cut a part of the picture, or, as Oneplus is doing, show a frame on the side, so no picture information is getting lost.

Now you can see: There is no "issue" and nothing "must" be fixed.

Unfortunately support staff is not a photography expert staff, so there can be some misunderstandings or false informations, sorry to hear this.

    By the way:

Disabeling the pixel binning (48 MPixel modus ) will only give you more pixels, but still in the ratio of 4:3 ,so there cannot be a difference.

You have gotten wrong information, you will only get 42mp pictures in 4:3 aspect ratio... Don't have time to go more in depth about this, but if you are interested you can Google megapixels and aspect ratio for more details :)

I don't have time to explain how camera sensors work, and what full frame means... But in your phone full frame is 4:3...any other aspect ratio is cropped and therefore not the full 42 megapixel.

I don't have to solve anything, I'm not an OnePlus employee :) what I try to understand is what you mean with full screen, isn't the pictures full resolution or isn't the viewfinder displaying full screen?

Because if I understand this correctly, there is nothing to fix!

Correct, I'm not sure I understand what you mean... But if it is what I think it is then there is nothing to fix.

The camera sensor full frame is 4:3, and that is 42mp... Any other aspect ratio won't be 42mp

If I understand this wrong, please try to explain the issue properly again :)

Full screen images captured throught the stock camera are no more in OP8 series. This has been removed as it is not a suggested/useful aspect ratio.
And, this is not a problem, this has been removed intentionally.
For more details read about the standard aspect ratios which are used professionally.

Liehjan is correct. You received incorrect information from customer care.
It is not possible to capture a single image with your OnePlus 8 that is both 48MP and "full screen" aspect ratio at the same time.

I'm going to do a really quick and really (really) bad Photoshop to illustrate that point.

As you can see, pictures captured with the full screen aspect ratio don't make use of the entire image sensor. That means that they also can't make use of the entire 48 megapixels.

So anybody who tells you that full screen, 48 MP images will be coming to the OnePlus 8, they are simply mistaken!
