Not Getting the Latest Facebook App

  1. morph27 Eclair Mar 29, 2019

    morph27, Mar 29, 2019 :
I'm still using my OnePlus One that I bought 4+ years ago. It's running Cyanogen 13.1.2 (Android 6.0.1), the latest Cyanogen version for that device. I've never updated it since they stopped support.

For no apparent reason, I can not get the latest Facebook and Messenger (by Facebook). The latest Facebook shown in Play Store is version 46.0.0.26.153 (updated on Sep 14, 2015) and I'm seeing Messenger version 33.0.0.31.250 (updated on Apr 4, 2016). I've tried the following:

    - clearing PlayStore cache
    - signing out of Play Store
    - rebooting the phone
    - using a different Google account
    - factory reset my 1+1 and start over from scratch

While I thought factory reset would fix it, none of the above fixes the problem. I'm still not getting FB and Messenger 2019 updates. No other apps are affected. I can update all other apps just fine and I'm getting March 2019 updates without a problem.

I thought FB stopped supporting Android 6 devices but my LeEco runs Android 6 and it detects/install Facebook version 210 and later, Messenger version 200 and later just fine. I'm currently using an APK extractor on LeEco and upload the APK to Google drive so I can install them on my 1+1.

    Does anyone ever experience this?

Now that you mentioned IG, I'm seeing version 54.0.0.14.82 released on Jul 16, 2018. I'm sure the latest isn't ver 54.x. I never pay attention to IG app because I don't use it. Other apps that I use are still getting April 2019 updates as recent as Apr 15, 2019.

I have been wanting to manually upgrade to Android 8 (I don't like 9) but it is the only phone I got. If I brick the phone, I got nothing. I've read many how-to instructions and they all look complicated. That's why I'm still running 6.
