S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Hi. Oneplus 8 pro. There's a problem with the notification sound. It is not possible to change the sms sound independently to the default notification sound. Please fix this issue. Thanks.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : This is a user forum, only users are here, nobody from OnePlus. But you can set a different sound for messages (or any other app). Long press on the message app>notifications>standard (that's what it says in my language, it may be different for you)>advanced>sound and set the notification tone you want.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : If you long press on the message app>notifications, do you see any options under "conversations"? Could be individual contacts or a general option or something. I have the 8 pro as well and i have that option. Just to check, you use OnePlus' message app right?
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Hi. Yes I'm using the oneplus message app. If I long press on the notification, in the app, there's no option to change the notification sound.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : I'll add some screenshots how it is on my phone, so first long press on the message app itself and press app info and you should get the following screen Then click on notifications and you should get the following screen with the "conversations" section There, below where it says "other", you should be able to scroll down to find, in my case here, some individual contacts option (where i can set a different sound for each of those contacts) and a "standard" option too to change the notification tone for all incoming messages
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Hi. So it's not like that on my phone. I'll include some screenshots. Thanks for your help.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : Go to the settings in this screenshot you took And click on "default" (i marked it), there you should see the "advanced" setting, click on it and there you should see the "sound" option to change the notification sound to the one you want
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Hi. On my phone it is only possible to turn it on or off, when I press, or long press on default.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : Oh really? Because there's a little line, like this "|" just before the toggle to turn it on/off, which would indicate there are more settings under that tab. Just to check, you clicked on the word "default"? Not on the on/off toggle, that doesn't give those extra settings
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : You are correct. If I click on default it gives more options. Changing the sound is an option. But no matter what I change it to the sms notification still comes out unchanged. It, and indeed all notification sounds come out as set under the sound settings in the main menu. Once again thanks for the help.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : You're right, i never changed that sound because i use Google messages mostly, but changing the sound there doesn't make a difference. Well, then it's not possible with the stock message app. You can, if you don't mind using Google messages instead of OnePlus' message app, change it to a different with Google's message app. That's what i did and it works, i have a different notification sound then the one that's set as default
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Thanks for helping me out with this issue. So I'm not totally inept 😂 How do you like the Google message app. What are the pros and cons versus the stock app? Obviously being able to change the notification sound is a plus.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : You're welcome.👍 Well, it's mostly personal preference, i always used it when i had both Google's pixel phone, where it was the default app anyway, and Samsung phones because i didn't like Samsung's app. But Google messages has the RCS chat feature, that's about the same as iMessage on iphone's, and i just like the way it looks. There's also the scheduled message option, which can come in quite handy, and of course changing the notification sound.
S1549657263584 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Dec 4, 2021 : Thanks. I'll give it a go. Good to speak to you. Take care and stay safe.
Aaron2017 , Dec 4, 2021 : No worries. Yeah, if you don't like it, uninstall it and it'll be like nothing happened.😉 Yeah, indeed, you take care and stay safe yourself too.
