Notifications while connected through Bluetooth

My phone always connects to my truck's bluetooth head unit soon as I get in. Calls come through fine and rings through the vehicles speakers. However, with notifications, they do not play unless I am connected through bluetooth media. If I am listening to the radio I have no idea if I get a notification.

I understand it could be a function of the head unit itself and it not being capable. But I would be happy if I can listen to the standard radio and have the notification go off through the phone. Is there any way to achieve this?

I'm having the same issue. I noticed that it appears that notification sounds get treated as media and whenever I'm in the car and my bluetooth is connected, even if I'm just listening to the radio, the sounds my phone tries to make are trying to come through the bluetooth via my car speakers. But the minute I disconnect the bluetooth, the notification sounds start coming out of my phone again. Also, even when I am listening through the bluetooth and get a notification sound, it is very faint - even with media/ringer volume all the way up. Agreed, very annoying because when I'm listening to XM or the radio and get a message, I don't hear the notification sound; and the vibration on the phone isn't substantial enough for me to notice that either.

Would love a fix for this!
