I recently joined the club, bought an OP6, I was wondering if default camera app is the best or some other apps are better to use?

    Hello Drachenjunge, same here...

[AA-voice-over]It's been almost three years since I bought my last Oneplus device[/AA-voice-over]

And I couldn't care less, still come here occasionally to check on the lads, how are you doing?

    Hey Rickster :)

We should arrange a forum meet up somewhere near the German-dutch border, lol...

No need for that, I think most of us moved on phonewise ;)

    Hi,

One important thing. When you have a scene, and then follows the next scene, you usually have two options: you do a hard cut, that means, the first scene stops, the next scene starts.

    That can work. Or not.

Sometimes two following scenes do not look elegant when hard cut together.

Then you can use a crossfade.

That means, the first scene fades out, and the following scene fades in. Magically the scenes change into the next one. Often that looks nice.

But - often it doesn't work. And that is one of the most asked questions. Why does it not fade?

The reason is, that both scenes have to be a little longer than you think.

Let's say, someone serves some drinks to a group of people, next scene you see people drinking.

Scene one ends with a hand at a glass, scene two starts with a mouth at that glass.

When you edit, you put both clips into the timeline. The timeline is simply the space where you move the clips to, one after another.

When both clips are already trimmed, then a cross fade is not possible. Because: the crossfade needs to start somewhere. And that „somewhere“ (let's say the crossfade takes 2 seconds) starts 1 second before clip one ends, and ends 1 second after clip two started.

Editors say, you need some seconds after the first and before the second clip of „flesh“. But, when you have trimmed both clips, there is no flesh.

To solve this, you need to move the second clip above the first clip and move it 2 seconds (60 frames) to the left.

That results sometimes in a not perfect solution.

That's why clips should not be trimmed without flesh before the editing starts.

(That is what i want to tell you)

When you trim them, trim them two or three seconds longer at the start (before the real start) and two or three seconds longer at the end, after the scene ends.

Then you will have enough flesh for a crossfade.

That is an important thing to learn. :)
