It's a known issue, OnePlus seems to be aware of it and besides efforts to tone it down, it's still there and it will be for the foreseeable future. If you want to get rid of it, the only way right now is to root your phone and installing a GCam port.

You can change it in setting -> applications -> Defaults
The last one may be different as I have my phone in Spanish.

I had it before. but when ever I use to click photos with the pre installed camera app when I was not facing this issue , the camera would click n closes automatically and the picture won't save so I thought it was because of the third party camera installation so I uninstalled it.

The so called oilpaint effect has always and will always exist. Cellphone camera apps must deal with the problem that either there is digital noise with crisp details or clean pics with nearly no noise but then oilpaint effect happens.
It's a commun characteristics in cellphones even with huawei. Samsung or whatever. I have samples from a friend's iPhone X which you can check here... Personally I noticed that my 5T does better in daylight....

Here the iPhone X samples :

I think the actual stock camera version 2.5.36 does a decent job with a good balance between as few digital noise as possible and minimizing oilpaint effect to the maximum, even in night shots done with automatic hdr. See sample :

5T has the problem right from the start. As some have mentioned, OP failed in correcting it..seems like OP don't know how to fix it. it's sad and at the same time pathetic!

Wow... So you paid less than half the price of an iPhone x and while having a stock camera as good as the one on iPhone you have problems???

    Amazing.... [e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e]

but still you shouldn't blame the company.. they are trying their best to give the best and under the affordable range so that everyone can have it.. so yes the flaw is there that doesn't mean they don't know how to fix it. it may be fixed in near future.
