oil painting issue to be fixed in next OTA

    If history serves, I wouldn't expect much in the way of an upgrade on the camera. There are phones that have been out for over a year that still have the oil painting effect and OnePlus has done nothing to fix them.

    Frankly, I don't understand what the issue is. I'm a former photographer, and they look OK to me.

    Can you post one or more photos and circle (and explain) the specific areas that show the effect ?

    The issue they're referring to is when you zoom in maximally, you can see the inter-pixel blur caused by slightly excessive smoothing, similar to what you see with excessive compression. I agree, it's a non-issue.

    No two people will agree on an optimal smoothing. Too little, and people will complain about the images being grainy. Too much, and it's "oil painting". If it concerns anyone, just shoot RAW, and apply whatever post processing you want (or none).
