So I put my mobile on charging when it was around 6%, after few minutes I realized smoke coming out of my mobile, I reached out to mobile and tried to remove charger but it was HOT like hell(almost burned my finger), I pulled the charging wire and pushed the mobile away from me and then there it is .... it blasted and I got stuck in room with full of smoke. It scared the shit out of me.
I ran from there just in case it might blast again.

I mean I was big fan of OP, I bought OP1 then OP2 and then OP5 , my full family is using OP on my recommendation but this incident changed my whole perspective towards OnePlus.

I could have been seriously injured if wouldn't have seen the smoke on time and threw the mobile away.

It is just 9 months and I am still paying EMI's for this.

I have submit a complain on OnePlus site and ticket ID is #411197, even called them and they created a request, Request #2717531. 9134100886801862394.jpg 9134100886801862394.jpg 6807000465964769076.jpg 9134100886801862394.jpg 6807000465964769076.jpg

Woah. That's obviously not a common problem, or else it would be all over the internet. You'll probably get a new one from OnePlus if you talk to them.

That's going to give a bad reputation of OnePlus, since there are many idiots on here. But my goodness I'm sorry to see this, hopefully OnePlus can do something about it, like sending you an replacement unit, because this is unbelievably unlucky! And please, don't blame OnePlus for this, it could have happen to ANY device.

It's funny and sad at the same time how some uninformed people try to argue with me.

There isn't something right for sure. Just few days back we had a guy complaining of his phone exploding (a 5T i guess) and was a clear cut attmept to forge OnePlus as was evident from pics(looked self inflicted damage).

Now we have a second such case in one week. This time it's OnePlus 5. Similar, exploded while charging case as claimed by OP.

As can be seen from the pics, the back panel of the phone is bent quite a bit (pressure failure points being corners on both sides). And the bend happened at the point where battery and the motherboard meet(a weak joint probably).

I don't see why a smoke, burn or so called battery blast would bend phone's metal back panel like that and at that point. If it was actually a blast back panel would have suffered a damage where the battery is, not above that(where the battery ends and motherboard starts).

Also can be clearly seen is that front panel has bent too equally. In similar proportions to the back panel and at same points.
It's impossible unless someone knowingly tried bending the phone with force, eg - as Zack from JerryRigEverything does.

It just looks like a case of foulplay. Either this user ended up sitting on his phone and bending it to the point battery got damaged or tried his strength on the phone and ended up killing it.
And now is calling it a blast, smoke and stuff just to make up the financial damage from OnePlus.

Points to Note - It's very uncommon for a OnePlus device (especially recent ones) to explode. It has one of the best charging techs and if there was really any issue with 5, 5T or any other device, it would have showed up till now.
These 2 random cases in a week's time sure raise a doubt. Especially how these phones look to be damaged(artificially) sure raises eyebrows.

This is my conclusion^. If indeed this turns out to be a genuine case, i would be sorry but until that, FAKE NEWS!

Edit - Just came to know that the other guy got a promise from OnePlus for a brand new phone. Cool. So now fake cases are being honoured, that's why someone else dared to do it again.
Now there will a flood of OnePlus devices exploding, because you know why!

    PS - I think it's time my 3T exploded too. What's the harm in a brand new OP6 for free [e]1f609[/e][e]1f602[/e] ?

so according to you I took a risk to damage my OP5 in order to get OP6 which is worth the same?

very easy to judge and comment without knowing what happened.

why don't you let OnePlus investigate and decide.

Totally agree with you its the same thing with the recent one also but how can both phones have same cut , by seeing this i think that it is the weakest point of phones Oneplus 5/5T if so when zack did that bend test nothing happened to that device need an official answer from the team mentioning what was the actual reason

Yes, they called and said sir phone is outserviced as the seal is broken. Really? the whole device is blasted and they are saying seal is broken and outserviced. I am using the device from last 9 months and never had an issue. even if I wanted to then why would I service it outside as it is still in warranty period.
