The biggest driver for me is now security. I got used to my Nexus getting patches almost immediately (my 6P just updated to the October 5th security patch on Oreo for example).

Only Pixel (and before that, Nexus} can deliver that. Nexus was a much better name than Pixel though.

    Congratulations.

Your post is one of the clearest and most logical reasons I have read in a long time, for selecting one mobile device vs. another, and/or one operating system vs. another.

When 145 million people have their identity stolen (Equifax Credit Breach) or when Yahoo (an email provider) just learns, that since 2013, every-single-user-account (over 3 billion) had been breached, the importance of obtaining and installing security patches in a timely manner, is critical to secure operation of any mobile device.

You havent seen the Pixel video result yourself. And no. OIS combined with EIS doesnt have to be better.

    I don't want to be rude..but you're totally wrong.

You don't have to pay extra for an adapter. It comes packed with the phone.
You don't have to pay extra for a detachable camera. You're not being forced to buy it, but you have the option to expand the camera's abilities with a detachable lens. Can your OP5 do that? I honestly don't know, but it probably can't.

Yeah, the OnePlus 5 isn't a bad phone at all. It gives you plenty for you money. I just happen to be a fan of Google's camera, and their stock Android. OxygenOS is good too, but the Pixel takes it for me.
