This feature should definitely be included as security features can never be extra.

The modern phones possess a feature known as plug and play which clearly suggests that your phone need not to be restarted whether remove the sim card or replace it.

As far as I know most of the thieves have SIM ejector tool in their pocket.
So if phone is stolen only God will help..

In addition to calling the police, you can go here https://myaccount.google.com/ and select "Find My Phone"

    Good luck, mate

im not talking about professional thief's. Most of the time your phone gets lost and not stolen so a average joe or female finds it but have zero technical skills so any protection on the lock screen is good.

2nd, my phone auto connects to all hotspots from my provider all over the country so even if there is no sim it still cam connect to a wifi hotspot.... which means it can be tracked because the find my phone is tied to the google account.

i just think its fumny how people defend bad security and come with things like you said rather then to confirm the BAD security so that we can fight together to address this rather then i say this and you counter with something else.

also, the providers are working on a digital simcard so in the future its a bit more secure.

I don't know how RICH or POWERFUL you are, just two days ago my friend's Xiaomi phone is stolen and his phone is also have the same features as you mentioned, he report his issue in police station they denied to fill FIR instead they told him to file Online FIR, he does that and present date he locates his mobile using MI account somewhere and police again denied to trace it saying that it cost you more than the mobile price.
And this is the reality here and I don't know where do you live so..
And having a sim ejector tool(normal pin) is not a high-tech thing.
Btw I never said those features will not required in OnePlus, just simply telling you if phone is stolen chance are very less.

Are you sure about it? ;)

What do you say about this video then?

And this is just an example, because I'm sure that if you search on google for "how to force restart Samsung X" you will always get answers like I just did. ;)

In the world of non removable batteries that we live today, there is always a way to restart/turn off the phone if some feeze happens.

I get what you are trying to say, but the truth is that in the end of the day, when you still can simply force the phone to turn off those additional measures end up adding not that much security.

dude, you are not getting the point. most non tech people dont know anything about hard resetting a device.

if i follow your logic then i dont need a door in my house because some burglar can break it open in 5 seconds? what type of logic is that??

i dare you to go outside now and ask 10 random people if they have a sim tray tool in their pockets! i doubt any of them have 1 with instantaneous access.

I know its not hard to open it up but you got to understand that not everyone has 1 of these tools in their pocket because they never use it

also you can still track the phone without a simcard if its connected to wifi.

And then what do you do, call in the mobile phone SWAT team? Police in the UK won't even take crime reports for lost / stolen phones any more, it's all fobbed off to a 'commercial partner'.

I lost my OP3 about a month ago. It's a pain in the dick, but when they're gone they're gone.

The person who steals your phone is no ordinary tom, dick and harry... He/she knows what has to be done the moment he/she steals your phone.. The first thing these guys do is to take out the sim and throw it away... And they do know the tech (hard power off) you talk about... Most probably, they know better than us..

im not talking about theft. im talking about people forgetting their phone somewhere.

There is more risk in you forgetting the phone then that a thief steals the phone.

no, who said anything about police? i know the police have more important things to do then to hunt down a phone.

its not impossible to hunt down a phone yourself if find my phone works.
