One Plus 9 Pro Hotspot Issue via OnePlus 9 Pro

  1. Sharma_Shubham_95 , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Nov 28, 2021 :

I m not able to connect my Phone's Hotspot with my laptop's wifi.
The laptop recognises the hotspot but upon entering the password the error states 'cant connect to network'
I have already tried it at WPA-2 and wifi standard 6 but have not been able to connect it.

I was using One Plus 6 before this and it worked smooth with my laptop.

    Kindly resolve or suggest solutions.

First check forget the network on your laptop than reset your hotspot password and try to reconnect it on your laptop. If that doesn't work see whether your laptop connect to other hotspot than run troubleshoot. If still it doesn't work back your phone and reset it.

Do you have 802.11ax, on the laptops' side?
If not, you'll have to down-level the settings as such, or it won't be able to connect (the OP 9 doesn't support dual-mode, at least as far as I know, not sure any phone does...).

It is LAN 802.11n and not ax. Can you please explain as to what settings to be downgraded? I have WPA-2 and 6.0 is also switched off. My laptop used to work fine with one plus 6.

First of all check that you have 3G / 4G / 5G mobile connectivity activated on your OnePlus 9 Pro. To do this, with the OnePlus 9 Pro unlocked, you can.
On your OnePlus 9 Pro go to the device settings, it is the gear wheel icon that you will find on the home screen or in the phone menu, you can access the.
Click on “Networks & internet” or “Connections” and then click on “More”.

I thought you were saying you had the "WiFI 6 AP" switch set, which would definitely make a mess of this scenario.

I'd remove the space from your hotspot name, call it say "Pro_9", or similar.
Then, go to your Windows machine (laptop), and "Reset Network Settings", by going to "Settings -> Network & Internet -> Network Reset".
Keep in mind this will remove ANY/ALL previous WiFi connections, AND your Bluetooth pairings. It will often fix this issue though, because it thoroughly flushes the cache of the named networks...

Thanks for patience. I tried the above steps and once it got connected but now again it is showing the same error. I tried the above step again of resetting network but now it is not connecting.
How can it connect once and now again repeating 'can't connect' error?
    It is super confusing.

You're talking about an error, on the laptop side, correct?
What's the actual error (numbers help a LOT here, numeric error values)? If you're not seeing it, the EventViewer will have more info, you just have to look at "System Events" and find the errors around the timing for your connection attempt.

Also, you're saying it worked, after the reset, and then didn't? Can you be more specific?
