OnePlus you can use a small portion on the display to light up as an notification led.
    just one portion .
just a small circle in the top of the display .
so use of some pixel in the display is no issue in battery .

@Staff: Any update, when AOD or Notification LED will be implemented? Ambient Display and Horizon Light in current state are really not enough..

Since i am looking to buy a new phone, the OP7 Pro is my favorite, but i will wait until AOD and a returning notification LED (or Horizon Light) will be installed.

+ METOO!! Custom LED notifications in any form would be AWESOME, it is the last feature I am so desperately missing since my Blackberry days.

    • Custom LED with ability to set custom color(s) - not just predefined colors as there are never enough of those
    • Custom speed of blink
    • Custom "off" such as after x minutes, x # of times, or until read (this is my preference)
    • Per App
    • Per contact
    • Allow multi-color in a sequence to help further define what app and from whom.
For example: receive a message in a specific email account could flash blue then green as defined for that account, in a speed defined until I open that email app as defined

Another example: receive a text from a specific contact I could set one color or a series of specified sequence of colors in a speed defined until I open that message from that contact

This is how Hub++ worked on Blackberry devices and it was invaluable!!! I would pay $$ for an app like this!

Sure wish I knew how to develop apps, this would be the one I would do!
