I've noticed that - and typically you can tell as some are actually not marked as "new". If the seller has a good rating and feedback seems overall good then I'll get one - it's not that expensive (more the the $8 you paid but still not too bad). From what I've seen, it also seems the hardest part may just be prying the battery out.

Probably go with Lineage since I have been using CM on my older HTC and COS on the One. In fact I was going to use Linage on the HTC first just to see how it does but that phone is really old now and only has 16GB - still it's a useful test phone :D

Got Lineage up and running now. I got greedy with the OpenGapps and went with Super, didn't work  (Famous Error 7) Lineage installed fine though. So opened a browser on my phone and downloaded the Nano version (ARM 7.1) and viola it worked when I flashed it.

I enabled Root to restore my TB backups but TB reported no root -even after a restart. So I flashed the SU zip I previously downloaded to get TB to work, that got TB to work again and I did my restore.

    So far so good :D

I have started experiencing reboots since 2 days on my OPO. But I see that the reboots don't happen when I have the phone plugged to a charger or a USB port.

Makes me wonder if it's a battery issue or motherboard issue or some kinda virus hack to ensure they steal my data without a powerloss.... :(:(

Try clearing data and cache files. Also uninstall all the apps which you don't use. It might help.
And best option as many have suggested is to do a factory reset and preferably shift to different ROM.

I'll get like, 4 to 5 random reboots in a span of 30 minutes some days, but not that often. I'll get random reboots from time to time, it just started a few months ago for me

I personally recommend to switch to Resurrection Remix, if you're going to root your phone. I was on that ROM for the last year of life of my OPO and couldn't be happier (good battery life, perfect OMS integration since Nougat and a huge load of customization available)... Only the premature death of my OPO led me to swap for 3T (OPO fell into a river and bye bye)

Had to open my mouth! Noticed the screen light up at one point today and assume it was a reboot (saw the startup animation) - but at least it was quick! :p It only flashed briefly then the lock screen appeared.

Odd that it's behaving this way after such a long time.

Have been using OPO since December 2014 and have been having this random reboot issues since last 4-5 months. Reboot frequency has increased to once a day from a month or so. using Cyanogen OS 13.1.2 On previous occasions have tried clearing cache and also removed few apps that i thought were hanging....disappointed :( looks like I will have to move to a different OS.

Hi, Hows it with Lineage OS now? Does the random reboot issue recur or is it gone?

Funny you should ask as I was just thinking this morning I haven't noticed it for some time. With COS when it happened it took a while to complete the reboot, but the one time I noticed with Lineage, it was a lot faster recovering from the reboot. For me it only seemed to happen while the phone was not in use, it never rebooted while I was using it; for both COS & LOS
