Does OnePlus still partner with a UK Telecom, I believe it was O2? Do they also make changes like this (no 2nd sim, locked bootloader) to OnePlus phones sold through other carriers?

you prob don't have the truely unlocked version. You got it at the T-Mobile store which means it's the T-Mobile version. Not the normal international unlocked version.

youre going to need to flash a new firmware. This can be done after the bootloader is unlocked.

Well nevermind was going to jump on the $300 discount for it at T-Mobile but I guess I will live with my 5t for another year. I don't want a bloat filled locked down OnePlus 6t. Defeats the purpose of buying a OnePlus device.

On the positive side maybe the notch fad will be over by then

you could always buy it from them directly. I knew the deal from TMobile was too good to be true.

Only reason I was considering it was because the discount my 5t still functions perfect for my needs.

I was looking forward to buying the t-mobile variant, the $300 trade in is such a sweet deal but if it's not a dual sim phone and if it has all the T-Mobile bloatware that can't be uninstalled I'm just going to get it straight from oneplus. I've waited long enough for them to finally make a device that'll make want to step up from my 3 year old OP2 (still kicks ***) to have it locked down. For the curious who want a different device and "never settle" the T-mobile OP6T will be a good choice!

The T-Mobile version is ideal for people who will use the phone stock no root and will rely on T-Mobile software updates. The device is locked down. While they do offer you $300 for old devices which is a awesome deal you are getting a crippled device and you will be settling. No pun intended.

So if you care about root, kernels , tweaks and actual full control of your device....order directly from Oneplus.

I bought the device from the event and was told it was “unlocked” because I purchased outright only to get a T-Mobile boot animation, T-Mobile sounds, preinstalled apps, and a locked down bootloader only too late to return because I left NY. I got it sim unlocked via 611 which also un-greyed the oem unlock option. You then have to fill out a form and get a unlock token like the old HTC days. That takes 7 days to get the .bin file via email that allows you to bootloader unlock your phone. Not worth the time and run around.

Also think about this for those that purchase their phones outright. T-Mobile is charging $580 for the 8/128 after taxes etc you will be close to the 8/256 model depending on where you live and your tax percent. You can get that model (8/256) from Oneplus plus free shipping etc not to mention it’s unlocked how it should be with dual sim and the faster software updates.

I just unlock the device through the unlock app in the phone, it takes only few secs not sure if it's officially unlocked.
