Nfc was left off due to cost, simple as.
Can't be for security reasons as the finger print scanner might be faster than apple but hey you can unlock them with even your nose lol. Watch YouTube.' Razor margins'

Ah, NFC! :D I mean what was even the point of fingerprint sensor then? Not so future-proofed after all

Difficulty of exchanging the different covers. Half the time break or deform the piece that sits where the volume button and frame are or the power and frame. The quality problem was for the bamboo, they weren't able to easily mass produce that one.

From the videos on YouTube, the styleswap cover is looking so damn weak. It's like Galaxy S3 back plate.
NFC or not, but I'd never want extremely fragile back plate on the device.

    Wrong, so wrong.
If I can buy this from ebay, for £2.99 which includes both wireless charging and NFC antenna, how much do you think an OEM is going to pay? $50 maybe $1?.
The expensive bit is the NFC controller and even than the cost to me is only £2.58 @ Qty 2500 . To OP, probably $2 (and for Qualcomms version probably even cheaper.

So no. Cost is not the issue here.
