if they honestly take the good from both, leave the bad of both and improve into a totally new OS with a new name etc not associated with either then ya sounds good on paper and heck even makes sense. However the reality is probably what I said 😂

Thanks for sharing the important news with us @Pete I hope this change will lead only to the better for OnePlus and their users.

OxygenOS is my favorite Android UI. Back in time I was worrying when I saw that OnePlus left CyanogenOS and tried something new that it was the OxygenOS.

But these worries were gone after I saw how the OxygenOS got matured while in my opinion you did a good job by providing a clean, fast, smooth and bloat-ware free (compared to others) UI that I couldn't easy change.

Now to be honest I have the same worries by seeing this new integration of the OS but I will just think positive and have faith that things are gonna be better.

I am curious to see how it goes in action, while I am using the Nord 2 and already noticed the paint of ColorOS. I hope it will have at least all the features that OxygenOS has because currently in Nord 2 it doesn't. Maybe with further Android updates I guess and I hope.

However good luck with this new move and all the best Pete and the whole team!

Does the lack of any mention of the OnePlus watch in all of this mean that the watch has now been abandoned?

That's something I need to know. I'm still trying to buy that watch but I wonder if it is worth the pain.

Thank you very much @Pete for such valuable information and congratulations to @Gary C. for your new responsibilities.

The fact that it says "I think the unified operating system will keep the OxygenOS DNA" is really important, at least to me. As he says, those of us who love OxygenOS, we want to continue loving it.

Now there is a long wait that I trust will culminate with the greatest of successes. We will see it with the OP10 in which I am confident that I can continue to see that fantastic camera co-developed with Hasselblad that makes my delight.

I wish the entire OnePlus team the best of luck.

    Neve Settle.
