OnePlus 2 losing on their potential customers because of Invite System?

Yes, but only those who are whining for weeks on the forums and would go suicidal if they don't turn their back on OP. Most of the potential buyers just don't care, go on with their lives and buy the OP2 when/if they get an invite. If not, they just buy another phone. No big deal, it's just a phone.
Oneplus has a good marketing strategy anyway...

Am I missing something here? Is it not the case that the reservation list is a fall back way to get an invite but owners and forum members get priority? I don't recall that I signed up for the reservation list but I already have my plus two

Well my mind was originally fixed on the OP2 but I've grown impatient so I'm strongly considering alternatives now. If you're say 3 millionth on the invite list, and learn that nobody in the first 10,000 has received invites yet (I'm at 2900), then it would be reasonable to lose hope and go buy a different phone.

No one outside India got an invite by just being on the list yet.

They have lost me. I will buy another phone. Not yet decided if it will be the new iPhone 6s (9.9.2015) or one of the next Nexus phones. But I know it will definitely not be the OPT. This whole marketing bullshit invite system sucks. As a matter of principle I will not buy it. I do not want to support such a system.
Anyone know how I could delete my account here?

This queue shows the quality of the product in such low price.

This processing of the queue shows the (poor)quality of the company.

Of course there is a lost profit here, the more they produce the more they will sell with so big demand. Supply and demand 101 :)

Nexus 6 is twice the price, if you can afford to pay this much, why are you waiting. Are you so big of a fan of OP?

Producing more than the capacity of the company will float defective product in the market and in that case the company will loose their brand image. Enhancement of production without having such capability attract spoiling of the quality. Many examples are there by which companies have abolished from the market.

Yes, you are right - defective products - OP released and presented a not tested product and want to benefit from their image of classiness by keeping production numbers low. Something they learned from Apple.
Wow it has to be a good product, you need an "invite" to actual get one.

They are loosing potential because now all the bad reviews are coming out and the better flagships are killing the flagship killer.

    Spot on.

I can't wait for a silly invite and will be getting a branded phone from amazon for better customer service and after sales service.
