Hahaha it's better to switch to iPhone, though it's costly but they delivered bug fixes, patches and even new features to their older devices.

iPhone 5s which is 4 year old(launched in 2013) getting iOS11 with all the features but look at the other OEM's.

    Bye bye Oneplus

The latest official Android release is N (Nouget), so the OP5's "end-of-life" OS may be Android O (unnamed), which Google has scheduled for release late October 2017.

Well, I can tell you that I don't care much about official software updates now. AOSPA is so great for me that I don't even think of going back and I believe ROMs will keep this phone alive for much longer. I'm eager to go for next Pixels especially after I used latest Google Camera port with HDR+ I see what those devices with their sensors are capable of (I'm hugely missing laser auto-focus on 3T). But things like design, fell in hand, off-screen gestures and alert slider still make me hope for OnePlus to take a phone that's just upgraded OP3 with similar design (gunmetal grey ftw and no iPhone-ish camera), better bezelless screen and better camera (with less MP, bigger pixels and laser auto focus). That would be heaven

@OnePlus has clearly lost me as a customer. It sucks cause I recommended it to 10 co-workers, last time I ever recommend a phone.

What's wrong with this guys? The phone come with MM, we have Nougat and will receive Android O. The " problem" is that we got Nougat almost the first ( because until now op was on the first 3 to get new updates, Nougat for example) so the people don't understand. Android O will be release this month so op can say that we will get this update in 6 months so this is almost 2 years for op3. If op will be more slowly in updates like xiomi for example than yess will be 2 years updates. Now you choose, what do you want : fast or slow updates. I prefer fast updates, and be the first to enjoy the new features.
Anyway the people never stop complain , now even if op don't forget us like op2 people still complaining...
Don't forget we have a lot of custom roms, and if the people don't like they can buy an iphone, let's hope that the 400-500 euro make the diference and worth that 900-1000€ iphone price.

If past history is any judge, Google's new 2017 Pixel phones including a new lower-priced mid-range model (all with Android O) will ship starting mid-to-late September, with Android O officially released to OEM's 30 days later, or mid-late October.

All versions of Android O released to-date are "Developer Preview" (BETA), and not licensed for final public release.

Following Android O's official release, OEM's like Oneplus, Samsung, etc. must submit their modifications to Google for test & approval, which in its self usually takes 30 days, depending on what clarifications (read 'fixes') Google requires.

All in all, the earliest one should expect to see Android O on smartphones (other than on Google's own Pixel or earlier Nexus) is 90 days from the official Android O's RTM (Release To Manufacture).

The "August" release date floating around, is from a so called "prolific leaker" and should not be taken as factual.
