I've actually tried backing up my twrp recovery to google drive because I couldn't find it on my internal storage. That file had no extension. That is weird AF. The only solution might be to rename that file and put .img at the end. I can't think of another way to do this.

I don't think changing the extension will work. The file is way to big to be only the recovery. I tried extracting the Beta 8 zip and found a boot.img file in there. Some roms actually embed their recoveries in the boot.img. Maybe you could try playing around with that? Here is a link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cpgfslfriyieg6e/boot.img?dl=0

So is it a build issue or as I suggested an issue with TWRP.

I understand it has to do with partition modification in twrp, however it doesn't pose any danger apart from the message that comes on when booting up the phone

You can remove this message with a Trick!

Extract your patched Boot.img from System.
    With flashfire or flashify.
Then wipe your Rom and flash oxygenos with twrp. After it go to fastboot Mode and ash the Boot.img. then go to twrp and flash supersu.zip. and you will not get forced encryption and no dm-verity Screen at boot

Here is v2 of OxygenOS recovery as a flashable zip. I dumped it using dd. Unfortunately, it doesn't hide the dm-verity warning as I hoped it would. Once you have booted the system for the first time with a custom recovery, the warning will keep on showing even if you flash the stock recovery back until you flash the firmware again through stock recovery.
