Anyone actually try it yet? Just got mine, would love to know first how the battery is baseline before changing settings to use more ram.

Like I said, would rather start with a baseline for battery life first, then try it, see how much of an impact it has. I will try it after a few battery cycles on the new phone :)

LOL, let me get this right
    1. Incresae the ram and make the battery smaller.
    2. Then reduce the ability to hold apps in memory to save battery power.
Did i get that right? Makes sense yes:rolleyes:

I guess this really proves that the extra 2Gb of ram is just for hype or its the usual kop out BS.
    What will be next?

I hope they provide a bug fix soon for this. There is no point having 6GB if you cannot utilize the available memory.

I don't have the OP3 but looking at the video showing the bad memory management and then reading this by Carl:

we have a different strategy for RAM management that benefits battery. We think this is the best user experience.

I remain skeptic and I think:
What kind of strategy is this? Marketing?
Why having 6GB of RAM if it's like you don't have them at all?
Wasn't it better to have 4GB then?

What's the meaning to have so much RAM if you can't even use it properly?
People pay more for more RAM, but if this RAM is managed so badly that apps have the killing-switch in automatic, then people get angry.

And then, if you have to see app killed automatically in memory to make the battery life better, I prefer to have 4GB and 3500mAh battery and a little bit more of thickness.

I hope this workaround won't show a bad battery life, otherwise if this is the case, OnePlus did a very bad strategy.
I don't care to have a superquick recharge if I see my phone diying before midnight. I can't always recharge recharge recharge, even if it's fast.

Agreed... they made the phone uselessly thin and even if it feels great to hold, more people would want better battery then a thinner phone

Works fine on the OP2. Been using a value of 30 for a while and haven't noticed anything untoward.

Check out C4ETech on YouTube. They just did a video on this. Also showing that the apps actually don't reload. They'd recently done quite a few speed tests with he OP3. Where the apps were reloading.
Plus! You can always change it back.

There is no difference tbh. On both laps he delayed waiting for the game verify which did not happen on the update.
If you really want to nit pick i would say the update is a little slower.

I thought this was the 3.1.1.2 update. This hack is a little primitive to say the least, look forward to seeing the results for sure.

Can't agree more. Smaller battery and high ram mean more charging circle in one year. Then quicker battery degradation.. Really hope OP do the right things on OP4

LOL contradiction on a whole new level

We talked about this before. Battery should have been in the 4k area not 3k. QC is cool, but I heard the battery life sucks on OP3. Fail.
