Hi, i've dropped my oneplus 3t and the display cracked and is black now. I have photos on my phone from the last 2 years i dont want to lose. Do repairmen always wipe the phone data? What if i ask not to? How it turned out for you?

Has anyone sent a phone for display repair and do they always wipe the data? Has anyone asked not to wipe and have the repairmen agreed not to?

So backup your photos beforehand(Google Photos sync, PC..etc), would seem a pretty obvious solution.

My main question is why would you ever send your phone without wiping it first... I wouldn't want to risk my personal photo's to be obtained. Can you still access your phone's files? I would recommend reset the phone personally before sending it out.

Because nobody cares what you have on your phone. At a repair shop you literally don't have time to check the content even if you wanted to.

I cant back it up, because the screen is not responsive, and when i connect to pc the device folder is empty because the usb is in charging mode and not in transfer mode. Otg support is also disabled by default in oneplus devices :(

use the screen of another device as a template and then make touches on the black screen, hopefully the capacitive still does function, that may help you to get to MTP Device

They going change the display - hardware only so not necessary to wipe the data. Inform them not to wipe the data.

but they will ask for the passwords to check the display after replacement.

if your phones working other than the display, I suggest casting it to your pc so you can navigate around.
