OnePlus 5/5t possible lag/stutter fix

    KP OnePlue , Jan 10, 2019 :
Like a number of you, I've been experiencing stutter and some lag since updating to Android Pie. I've also noticed that it felt like something was running in the background that contributed towards this. Then I discovered my on my WiFi preferences that Turn on WiFi Automatically and Scanning Always was on. As soon as I switched these off, meaning no automatic scanning or searching for WiFi was on, I noticed I have next to no lag and stutter now.

So go into Settings, type in WiFi Preferences in the search. Under WiFi Preferences, turn everything off there.

This fix may not work for everyone, but it's certainly worth trying until a stable update is available.

    I hope this helps.

The problem still exists on 9.0.3 firmware OP5T Beta 24.
Issues with Audio and Video files unless connected to Bluetooth.

there is no such version... that's like saying the bug is in Windows vista 10 or something ;) they are 2 separate builds

enable developer options hitting build number many times and then go to system/developer options and disable HW overlays. This removed every single lag in the system. Pretty happy with it, I can confirm that works for me because enabling it for some hours I start to notice lags and then with it no single lag.

Disabling hardware overlay will lead to choppy videos and consume more processing power and battery. It's they for a reason and it has nothing to do with the UI stutter.

No, usually while rendering views. Some apps will misbehave and won't render properly. There will be a marginal increase in battery consumption as well. It's just a debugging option for developers.

I'm facing this since the last update, I've got 9.0.3. Can't quite figure out what is causing this and don't even know if the bug reports I'd send would include anything about CPU/GPU usage by apps. Just hoping someone found a fix for this because the wifi thing didn't work and can't stop the HW Overlay because a lot of apps start misbehaving, especially video ones, even flutter based apps.

My friend also has the same Oxygen OS version on 5T but he doesn't seem to face this issue.

Is there a way to monitor CPU usage per app without root? Apologies if I'm asking the wrong question or this is the wrong place.

    I noticed you're new...
    This is your second post...

Just put your phone away for 30-60 seconds (don't use it keep it locked) and it should go away... Or just restart the device...
Also charge your phone overnight even if the battery is 100% as the phone does optimization at that time I heard so try that too...
