Oneplus 5 GPS fix?

So I've had issues with my GPS not working properly and ran the diagnostic using the *#808# which failed after 20 seconds. I emailed customer support and they had me reboot the phone and then they flashed the phone through a remote session. It still did not work. I called and they said they would try and fix it since I'm still under a 1 year warranty but I'm wondering if anyone else success by sending it back?

Yeah I did, they asked me to send it for a repair but I just wanted to see if anyone else got success from sending it back. It just sucks that they won't replace it, oh well.

    1. Remove SIM tray from device.
    2. Unscrew 2 bottom screws.
    3. Gently remove back cover starting from the bottom.
    4. Check on the back cover that GPS connection point are clean. ( Pic 1 )
    5. Check on the frame that pins are not missing or bent. Make sure that the pins are standing up a bit like shown in the picture. ( pic 2 )
    6. Unplug the flexicable from the motherboard by lifting i gently.
    7. Gently pry it loose with a spudger or some other plastic tool. There is a metallic plate on the flexicable connecting with a small copper "spunge" that I guess grounds the antenna. ( Pic 3 )
( If the small copper "spunge" is missing you can make one of ex. aluminium tape.2mmx 25mm strip and make it to a tiny ball. Insert this between the flexicable and frame ) ( Pic 4 )
    8. Now insert the top of the screen in the frame gently so you do not brake the gps flexicable.
    9. Install bottom screws.
    10. Now GPS should work if it was a grounding issue.

I appologize for bad pictures but hopefully you get the point.
GPS app I used is GPS Test.

Hopefully this helps for your problem.

    Regards
    ICE

THE GPS DOES NOT WORK!! Absolutely pathetic that the GPS on this phone only worked for 8 months after buying it brand new from your website!! Does you company even acknowledge the high number of people in your community forum that are complaining about the same OP5 issue?! OnePlus had to replace the motherboard for the first repair and the same issue has returned 2 months later!! Now since I'm 2 weeks past the year long warranty they want to charge me to perform the same repair again. There's obviously a GPS problem with this phone that OnePlus is refusing to address!! Terrible customer service!! Never buying a product from this crappy company again!!

I had taken it back to OnePlus to get fixed and they replaced a few parts and it for the most part works but it still isn't perfect.

Yas! This fixed both my GPS issue and my slower wifi issue (since they're the same antenna). :D
    Thanks!!

I just did this today and it worked. my oneplus 5 started this issue just 2 weeks ago. i still had the copper "sponge" but all i did was fold aluminum foil the same size as the hole, very thin, and put it on top of the sponge and press firmly on it with the flexicable. what a coincidence that it happens to me right before the 6T came out.

Hats-off Sir!! You have my respect ;)

PS: Shot taken outdoors at a "Device only" mode. Got none before the fix.
