nearly all phones are water resistant, what most phones can't survive is being for long time in for example lake, because of pressure.

there are YouTube videos of people submerging the phone in water. I saw one video that also put it through the shower and water hose

Even with certification, most companies still don't cover water dmg

Here is another water test, that I think takes to another level. The guy leaves it submerged for 5 minutes.

My oneplus 2 fingerprint scanner quit working after I was in the rain for 5 to 10 minutes.... So this is a improvement over that. Oneplus did rma and fix my op2 to their credit.

you sent me a link from sprint. sprint does not speak for the oems. sprint speaks for themselves because they sell insurance.

if your going to quote an oem, get the info from them direct.

I'm quoting sprint because it was the fastest article I could find. Again just use your brain and some common sense. If oem cover water damage on a water resistance phone, what preventing you from taking it snorkeling? I have galaxy s8 and lg g6. None cover water damage , and both have ip67 and 68 respectively. If you're disputing that fact, please show article stating otherwise.

I certainly wouldn't believe that video. I'm sure the phone would fail in a few hours or so because water would eventually seep in.

There might be YouTube showing videos that the oneplus 5 is waterproof but there is no ip rating certified. Meaning if you get it wet and any damage comes to the device as a result of getting it wet , you won't be covered to get it replaced or fixed. So I wouldn't take any notice..regards
