hie Everyone Had So much time to kill so I came up with this
let's see if the price hike for OnePlus 5 is Justified.
(FYI - I'll be comparing the base models for pricings)
OnePlus One
the OnePlus one came with a Price Tag of US $299 (16 GB)
US $349 (64 GB) in 2014, At that time Flagship Devices from Apple, Samsung And Other Major OEM's Had these Price Tags.
iPhone 6 - $649 (Unlocked)
Samsung Galaxy S5 - $649 (Unlocked)
HTC One (M8) - $649 (Unlocked)
Sony Xperia Z2 - $749 (Unlocked)
So OnePlus One was Priced Almost Half at the Price while offering similar Specs but with Invite system which was not so good, and it wasn't easy to get your hands on.
(but they sure needed it)
OnePlus 2 Launched with a Higher price of $329 in 2015, while a bit higher than OnePlus one it was still Affordable and almost half the price of Flagship Devices while offering similar specs.
(let's not talk about the ill-fated SD 810 and it's Heating issues )
Same Happened with the OnePlus 3 and 3T, they were also priced a bit higher, while discontinued 3T is Still Available at the price of $439.99 .
OnePlus have a higher price tag with every Device they offer but isn't every OEM?
Galaxy S8 and S8 were priced at $720 and $840 respectively while S5 had a price tag of 649$.
Also the Second hand market of OnePlus Devices is Very strong. (OnePlus 2 is a bit down now)
but that is not the case with other major OEM's
[bought iPhone 7 (32GB ) when it came out for 72k in India. and now it's available as low as 64k for (128 GB)] now if I'll try to sell it it won't get me half of the money I spent on it.
same with the Samsung, S7 Edge had 56k launch price, now available as low as 40k.
yea there is some drawbacks
1. Camera - personally I don't care about camera much. for me it's good. but I don't think anyone shares my opinion. OnePlus is redifining Camera with OnePlus 5.
2. Full HD display panels instead of 2k (which is the Standard of Flagship Android devices) but as they say 1080p is enough if you are not into VR (not mainstream)
3 no water resistant - One less thing to worry about if there is at least IP 67 Rating
Also newer Components means higher Prices,
so if you look and give it a thought OnePlus Devices are still somewhat half of the price of the Current Flagship phones
while having strong second hand value.
they're not as Affordable as they were Once. but they never Claimed to be the same.
Also you Shouldn't stick to Brands, if something looks appeling go for it.
