but yet, if the website or the service can't provide you download speeds more than 1Mbps, there wouldn't be much use of 20Gbps. Let's just hope they increase their bandwidths and provide better speeds!

Actually, the 20th century had cellular phones, not smart phones. Even the PDA wasn't really a thing until the 21st century unless you want to count the failed Newton

And there is the Atari Portfolio palmtop as well. I was referring to the latter series of PDAs that featured internet connectivity and downloadable apps, at least as an option (like the Sharp Zaurus). I had forgotten about the older style PDAs. Sorry.

I must admit, I never found much practical use for my iPAQ. Logging onto a server session through Citrix NFuse over a 16k link from the pub was cool for showing off, but you were never going to use it for anything real.

Citrix was crap. Remote X with compression was usable, and I could SSH easily at those speeds. My Zaurus had wired and wireless network cards and I cross compiled a number of linux DoS attacks. I could so much evil that thing. The CPU couldn't brute force a WiFi key in a reasonable time, but I could record data at any wifi and then use my PC to brute-force the key. I loved that thing.

SSH doesn't impress people in the pub (depending of course who you're drinking with).

It's been a long time since I felt the need to hack a neighbour's wifi, but I do kind of miss those days. Messing with insecure fridges, TVs & doorbells doesn't quite have the same benefit as getting some free Internet did.

Actually, try streaming 4K from Youtube. The VP9 codec can do wonders. Even though docs say 15Mb is needed my 10Mb connection works.

Making it happen is kinda weird. The Youtube app on the 4K TV doesn't actually support the needed codec and I only get 1080p. The bluray player has its own youtube app (which can be cast to from the youtube app on a phone although you can't cast anything else). Some videos will play in 4K using this configuration

FOUL! FOUL! Autonomous driving is listed as a 5G feature, not a "unrealized" 4G feature.

Most "insecure" IoT devices aren't accepting incoming connections. They make outgoing connections to a cloud server. Then you have security conscious people reflashing with firmware that allows local connections, basically incoming connections! I don't trust the 3rd party servers to not get hacked though
