Not sure where to post this, or make a suggestion, but wouldn't it be nice if we get the possibility to change the size, height and the spacing between the navigation buttons? I think that the current ones are to close to each other and the grey bar is really annoying in dark themed apps. Let me know what you think

I want the option to remove it altogether on stock oxygen. At the moment I'm rooted and using joneplus tools to get rid of it and x home bar for gestures.

If you are rooted and have supersu or magisk then you can easily remove the navbar. Just open up a terminal app and type two lines:
    su
    su -c settings put system buttons_show_on_screen_navkeys 0

Yeah I know that but I just find it easier to do with joneplus tools. I just pull down quick settings and enable the hide navbar tile, saves all that typing malarkey lol.

I would be really happy if the bar would be consistently transparent.
I tried the navigation bar app, but it just added an additional navigation bar, instead of solving the problem (I might have done something wrong though....??!)
