    I've got refurbished 5T with a stock android 7.
Done OTA till android 9. Made a factory reset and it still sits on android 9.
    1. How can I go back to stock android 7?

I am going to try custom ROM as I read a lot about security issues found in OxygenOS
    2. Which ROM would be best to start with? I used Lineage 14 on OnePlus One before.

Most importantly, can I make a backup of my own stock recovery?
    3. Is there a way to a backup of my own "stock recovery" of the phone before I will mess with it or do I need to use recovery.img provided in the first post (https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=230935) as the only option?

    4. Which recovery should I use? 7.1 or 8.1

you can use various roms, if you need most frequent update u can select
    1. mokee
else if you need features, approach
    2. resurrection remix
if you need stable version of resurrection remix , u can try
    3. carbon os
    carbon is more secured one
if you love to hear musics
    4. xosp
    5. pixel rom

you can develop own recovery using 5t kernel in linux
else you can install twrp , that's enough

I require fastboot ROM for OnePlus 5T. I cannot boot into recovery . My phone is only booting in fastboot mode.

I wanted to do factory reset. Flashing stock recovery for Android Pie in post#282 here using fastboot doesn't help. Booting using the same image file also doesn't solve the trouble.

The phone stays on black screen after OnePlus logo appears.
