sorry I'm new to all this but I just bought a chinese Oneplus5T and it has HydrogenOS. How do I flash it to OxygenOS? Do I download the signed flashable zip or the OTA?

    Hi All,
I have already rooted my phone and I am on OOS version 4.7.2 and want to update to the latest version 4.7.4.
Should I update through OTA or should I flash the zip file(1.6gb)?
If I update through OTA will there be any problems like could not boot into recovery or soft brick my system
and if I have to flash the zip file OOS(v4.7.4),what are the steps to flash the file from recovery?

All rooted devices have to update using the full ROM ( 1.6gb ) through custom recovery (TWRP) and then reroot the device using magisk or super SU , This is the standard procedure for any device which has bootloader unlocked and is rooted . This applies for all future updates also as long the device is rooted OTA's are for stock devices only.

So you are saying that I should go into recovery(TWRP) and then swipe to factory reset and then wipe cache, dalvic cache, system and data and then install the full zip file and then again reboot to TWRP and install magisk and the reboot to system???
    Am i correct???

Nope! I'll tell you 2 ways to update without bricking your device.

Method 1 : If you already have OOS version 4.7.2 FULL ZIP then you have to download OTA update zip which is approx 250MB.

you have to flash full zip then ota file without wiping anything from TWRP.
once both zips are flashed, flash superSU/magisk and boot the device. you'll still have root and all data and apps intact.

Method 2 : if you do not have full ROM/ZIP of OOS version 4.7.2 then simply download Full Flashable signed zip of OOS version 4.7.4 and flash it from TWRP and then again flash SuperSU/magisk and then boot the device.

you'll have all the apps and data intact with both methods. only difference is that if you already have the full rom zip then download will be only the new ota update for you else you'll have to download whole new updated ROM file.

I received my OP5T from China with HydrogenOS this morning, the installation of Oxygen OS did not pose a problem, the file OxygenOS 4.7.4 works perfectly. ;)

The only difficulty was that Google Play Store was looping on "checking ...", a simple factory reset solved the problem

Thank you for sharing ROMs. :)

I have a question, however, when the official ROM will be available, should I reflash my OP5T with this one?

I have a problem that prevents me from doing this that I'd like some help if possible. I've unlocked and rooted with TWRP modify by_ibe.

When I go to recovery, the "mount/decrypt data screen" comes up. Everytime there are two options "cancel or select language" , I select english, and the only options again are "cancel or select language" so this time I cancel when sends me to the "Unmodified system partition". I swipe to allow modifications, then I'm taken to the Main screen that allows me to install.

Here's the problem - when I go and try and find the zip file from the internal storage it's not there. If I select SD card the file names appear encrypted or at the very least they make no sense. Any help would be appreciate. I'm sure it's something simple that I am missing.

I guess I solved my own problem. As soon as I removed the PIN lock on my phone, rebooted to twrp, the problem went away. You can also enter your pin when TWRP asks you for a password and that will decrypt and find what you're looking for.

I downloaded the newest OS early from link and upgraded via the OTA option locally. Now the question is on a stock non rooted device, can I revert in the same manner?
