i just want to unlock bootloader / flash twrp for root and maybe xposed for gravity box tweaks. I dont want to flash custom ROMS. Will unlocking bootloader break any core phone functions like camera quality etc?.

If I just unlocked my bootloader and don't flash twrp and root binaries then will I get incremental updates or will I get full ota?
will full ota relock the bootloader?

No nothing .. the bootloader status does not affect any core functionalities.

Yes you would recived the OTA and flashing full OTA will not affect the bootloader status. It would remain unlocked unless you manually lock it again via fastboot or use the recovery tool

Hi, my OP5T is encrypted, so when I access TWRP, it requires a password ... is it my PIN ? How do I remove encryption ?

The password is the same password as your lock screen pin/password/pattern. I suggest you stay encrypted for the meantime as there is no custom rom/multirom available yet. I will post the decryption method once the files and roms are out.

That's the bootloader unlocked warning and there is no workaround for. You may either wait for 5 seconds or just press the power key to bypass that if delay is an issue.

I've successfully unlocked my bootloader and rooted using your guide so thank you for that, the main reason I wanted root was to completely disable the on screen navigation bar as I like to gain the extra screen space and use an app called swipe home button (very similar to how the iPhone X operates but it's been in the store for years) however, the usual method of qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in the build.prop doesn't make any difference to the on screen navigation buttons and neither do the apps on the play store that promise to disable the soft keys as I'm guessing they use the same build.prop method does anyone have any idea on how to solve this? I appreciate that this is in the wrong thread but I thought it would be the best place to ask

Yes, I figured it out after posting it.
Thanks, I'm now rooted successfully ! Paired with Titanium backup made my transfer way smoother !

    @Funk Wizard
Man after i rooted my device, my data connection is very strange. It takes lots of times to load a page on chrome. I dont know what to do except lock the bootloader again... I had adway and i thought the lags with data was because of it. Then i swiped everything except for internal storage and reinstalled oos, for my surprise it was the same... Dont know why is this happening?

I wish you can light me up.

    Thanks in advance,
    TS

You can try a factory reset, bootloader status should not make any affect on data connection

Any way to avoid Safetynet being tripped when unlocking bootloader without rooting?

Change the USB connection from charging to data transfer. You should see the option in the notifications.

I suppose OTA updates won't work anymore after unlocking bootloader and having a custom recovery.
Where can you find the official updates from OnePlus to dirty flash in TWRP?

Edit: nevermind sorry for asking this dumb question, I found the ROM downloads on the OnePlus site.
