Oneplus 5T upgrade

This may be a contentious question but if you were going to upgrade from a 5T to one of the newer 1+ models which one would you go for, to get the best value for money? Initially I was looking at the Nord N10 5T, then I saw someone mention the 7t Pro would be better but that would mean spending more and if I was to spend more, would it be better to go for an 8 instead?

Some of my considerations in choosing a new phone:
Price - reasonable if possible, (I know I can buy a new phone cheaper on ebay etc would I still get the same level of support buying from there than direct through 1+)
Camera - Not the greatest fan of the teardrop camera position hence the 8 was interesting with the hole punch and of course the 7T with the pop up camera.
Size - something similar in size to the 5t would be nice hence 7T seems more appealing.

Any other phones to consider (from other providers even)?

(I know there will be a lot of people that will say dont buy 1+ again and I get it. Let's try and keep this to the question at hand :))

To be honest, I won't find Nord series as an upgrade over 5/T.
In my personal opinion after looking the price and all I will definitely go for the OnePlus 7T, as there is no 5G network in my country not even gonna come in 2-3 years (affordable 5G).
7T camera setup is also good and rest is almost perfect.

Yeah, that's the other one, camera set up meant to be good on 7T at the moment compared to 8 series. I tend to keep my phone for a few years so was thinking of the Nord 5G as worthwhile getting so it is futureproofed for the next few years for me.

    thanks for your input! :)

    Question - 7t or 7t pro?

£469 vs £569 on 1+ website. think i have seen the 7t pro for around 450 on ebay

If you getting 7TPro at good prices, it is definitely better than 7T but not much, especially if you use front camera more then 7TPro might get some problem in long term usage as the Pop up camera.

The Nord should still receive software support after support for the 7 Series had ended, and because the batteries are younger you may find a Nord will last longer. What practical benefits does the 7T and 7T Pro have compared to the Nord?

just reading a couple of comparison websites, there really isnt much difference apart from slightly bigger battery and faster chipset, faster charging. Plus you can get a higher RAM version on the 7pro compared to the 7t.

For the price and what you get everywhere is saying no point upgrading to 7t pro from 7 pro. in which case if the 7pro is really cheap then might as well go for that and save even more money.

I mainly use the back camera tbh very rarely take selfies so pop up camera shouldnt be too much for an issue.

Seems like I am swaying more towards a 7 Pro now with the 12GB and 256GB memory. Was there a 5G version of this?

what other phones would compete with the 7Pro at a similar price point then?

i thought i read somewhere that the nord would only get one update? being a budget phone? and also the 7 has better specs? if the battery is new then that shouldnt be a point of difference for either as long as you look after it properly?

That's what I actually saying, battery is bigger but the resolution is also higher, charging speed is I think same in both.

    That's true.

Yes, there is 5G varient of 7Pro but is carrier specific, so things would be limited like software update will be dependent upon the carrier.

ahhhh hadn't realised it was carrier restricted. thought i may have got an unlocked version and can use my own sim in it. hmmm that scuppers things a bit.

whilst nord has 5g maybe i should be looking at the 8 instead? i do like the full screen vs notch or hole punch camera

This is what happens with me, I'm currently using OnePlus 5 not wanted to go for Nord and the normal series is costlier for my and there is no exchange offers for upgrading so.......:sweatsmile:

tbh whilst the 8 pro is a better phone i think it will be a bit too big for me so the 8/8t would be the better option for me. 7 pro 5g seems to be the best option but seems like i'll be restricted as it is locked to ee in the uk. surely unlocking it shouldnt be difficult?
