I have a 6T. Closeup photos on docs and paper photos are coming out with blurry edges, even on a tripod. The center is perfect and gets worse as you look out to the edges. Pretty bad for a brand new phone.

Exactly. I returned the OP6 and I'm returning OP6T mainly because of it.
There is a little sh*tstorm over it (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/why-do-i-return-my-oneplus-6t.945689/), but maybe thanks do this Oneplus will come to its senses.

What you are describing might be partly due to the wider aperture.
But the effect is basically visible on EVERY photo on the OP6/T when you are looking for it.
Even in landscape photography with far away objects.

Some believe this is a software issue, but I am pretty sure it is caused by a subpar lens as this has multiple effects
to the corners of an image besides lack of sharpness depending on the lighting:

    - chromatic aberration
    - ghosting
    - overblown contours

Even when using GCam with HDR+ which brings its own processing, the corners lack sharpness in every photo.
This is subpar quality at its finest.

HI All, guys, i've got a new 6t, photos and videos from front camera is Really bad!!!!,
i'll be glad, if it would be a software bug,
the photos was taken by iphone6, and resized, so the server can proceed the photos,
you can see some white stripes across the first picture
It's really not good job for phone, which costs around $700,
    i've got it for $815, ($750+$42),
eiphone x costs around this price level,
hey oneplus guys, what u'll reply for that????

Well, long time i been ausent from here...

Since Gcam is on the corner, i dont feel so much the need of complaint about stock camera (even i modded mine).
However, as others pointed, something doesnt fite quiete well...maybe is the qualith lens or whatever, on the center they look ok, but around center....the talk is another....

For now i can live with this.....but o still have feeling my "old" Note 3 camera is better. Gonna install Night mode on him and make some comparations...

I was just going to say my old Note 2 and Note 5 camera does a way better job than 6T in this department.

I would like to share this pretty funny picture with you.
Thankfully I've installed Google camera and took a decent panorama image.

Enjoy, however, the OP Camera (OB7) result:

    That thing went into production.

Someone in OnePlus said "it's OK, let's release it". [e]1f601[/e]

My point is, don't keep your hopes up for a major improvement on the original post issue xD

Plus the depth of field gets narrower the closer the subject and lens distortion will be more visible....

Yep, worst phone ever. All images look like they have been taken with a potato and put through google deep dream. Same problem with all 3 cameras. I really tried to get a sharp shot and even tried pro raw, nothing works. All out of focus and full of sand. The seller stopped selling these phones.

It is amazing to me that you want to spend $600 to get basically a camera that costs by itself no more than $50 in any phone, and then you complain about it.
Did you know that smartphone cameras cost about $20 - $50 in parts? Iphone X camera costs $35.

This mind bending ignorance is stupefying.

    3 things.
    1) Defective camera.
    2) You cannot do math.
    3) They overcharged you.

Same here .. since i got my OP6 EVERY photo i take lacks contrast and have painting /colour patches.
the screen viewfinder images are a bit sharper . blacks are deeper and colors are more vivid. put once the photo is snapped smething like a white semi-transparent nylon film is applied on top of the photo leaving it washedout

ps:i do some phography myself and i am totally a ware that my OP6 camera can never produce these beautiful photos i see others share as "shot with oneplus" or the camera comparisons published everyware without extensive use of image processing software like lightroom for example..

so i am sure that eigther the sensors are not calibrated the same way for all the phone units or the post pressing algorithm does not work the same way for all the units

tried the GCAM app (thanks to the devoper who ported it to OP6) photos are much better . but the app itself is not stable and there is bugs (stuck at processing HDR+ notification - photos are not always ported to the gallery - snap time us very long - unecpected shutdowns ..)

the good news is that i believe that the issue is not totally a hardware issue and i think OP should respond with a fix

you can see this washout .. the grayish blacks and the oil painting effect on the following example
    system cam
