OnePlus 6 RAM Management Issue

  1. Samuelodan Froyo Jan 25, 2019

    Samuelodan, Jan 25, 2019 :
So I got my 6GB RAM OnePlus 6 about 3 weeks ago and updated to Oxygen OS 9.0.3 before I started using it.

I love every part of the phone except for it's inability to keep apps in memory for multitasking.

Try this small test to see for yourself

Minimize about 4 or 5 apps, make sure they are in memory by switching between them.

once you're sure they are in memory, open the camera app and take 5 pictures. After the pictures, close the camera app. don't minimize it.

Now, check your 4 - 5 minimize apps and voila! They're gone.

    Everything will reload.

Surprisingly, the S9 plus has better RAM management.

And it seems like OnePlus will never fix this.

sometimes, I leave PUBG to go reply a few messages or check some webpages and by the time I return, PUBG restarts and I lose my progress.

    this is so bad.

I want to know if it has always been like this

I'm not asking if I'm the only one, because I've seen a number of people with the same issue

Just tried your test on my OP6t with 8gb ram.
    It is working just fine.
May I ask what setting you have selected for ram management?
You might know, there is actually a setting where you can define the ram management to regular or aggressive.
Also are you using any kind of battery saver? (build in or 3rd party)
Please let me know which setting you have chosen.

ok, for ram management (recent apps management)

    it is set to normal.
    i don't use battery savers.

    thanks for the concern.

this issue gets so bad that if I'm listening to music and I take a burst shot in the camera, the music immediately stops and every single app will be kicked out of memory.

I can reproduce this issue any time of the day really

this is widespread problem. just wait for on plus to fix this shit. Google don't kill my app. OnePlus is the second worst manufacturer. doesn't matter what settings. people reporting no problem usually not updated to latest system or using t mobile version which is behind global os version .
you are not alone. and **** this shit.

Using One plus 6...8 GB RAM variant,

I'm also facing the same issue, apps keeps on reloading when switched from multitasking pane.

Than what's the use of 8 GB of RAM....??

    really Bad RAM Management..

watch this video to see how bad OnePlus RAM management is.
many users are complaining and nothing is being done about it.

I decided to post this because, as requested, I sent this video and my system logs to OnePlus bughunters, but I haven't gotten any reply.

you'll see how just taking several pictures with the camera will clear any app from memory.

    nothing stays in memory.

I nearly lost a match yesterday in PUBG mobile; I minimized the game to reply a few WhatsApp messages, cos my teammates were waiting for me.

only to quickly get back to an already restarted game.
I had to load the game afresh and join in "just in time."

this is unacceptable for a one-month-old 6GB RAM Android 9.0 phone.

    totally unacceptable.

This has been a persistent problem since Android 9 for most devices, but seems to be specially agressive on OnePlus. I've found no way to solve this issue and regardless of the mocking senseless posts, it's a huge issue that our devices are not able to provide acceptable service.

This phones are not ment to close apps you are currently using, are ment to multi-task. Be it PUBG be it your corporate VPN, this shouldn't be happening.

    honestly, this shouldn't be happening.

And it's just so disappointing that it so happens to be my first OnePlus phone.

maybe just post it once, doesn't need to be in lots of sections, its not going to make them respond more.
