i did try this and I didn't have this problem. my Spotify is still playing. although, I have the 8gb variant, but I have some other apps in the background and I can open them all.

try to lock 6ou app to the multitask app, see if that helps. also go to battery - battery optimization - press the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select advance optimization - disable deep optimization. see if that works.

    thanks for your help man.

if I find a a good deal, I might get the 8GB RAM variant, because I've disabled all optimisations.

and the issue still persists, pinning apps doesn't even have any affect (weird).

i didn't say it will have, it was just a wild card ... I'm sorry I couldn't help. try to submit a bug report to the feedback section on the website if you didn't do it already.

    Alright, I appreciate the effort.
I have already submitted a bug report, so I'm a bit hopeful (just a bit).

oh and I just got the Oxygen OS 9.0.4 update.
    hoping things get better

So, guys, I just tried to recreate the issue I recorded in my video (this time on Oxygen OS 9.0.4) and the apps didn't close.
portrait mode no longer closed Spotify, and taking a burst shot didn't kick eBay out of memory.

I don't yet know if I'm happy to report this, though it seems nice.

I'll still check to see if I can multitask properly now (may take a little more than a day).
and I'll be sure to update this thread with my findings.

(I also noticed the camera app was upgraded from 3.0
    15 to 3.0.16)

I really hope OnePlus can fix this.
The gallery is usually the last app I expect to see in memory on this phone.

once I leave, I know it'll refresh once I come back.

while changing wallpaper in gallery app, when I set a wallpaper and went back immediately and boom it's gone ,it shows the previous picture not the one which I closed,

same happens with every app, like YouTube, and in Dream11 app everytime the app loads, even it's just 10 seconds , that is not just acceptable

this happened on mine too with the wallpaper

    here's a screenshot showing it.
The selected wallpaper is not the one displaying.
    It reset to default.

but I'll watch out for the issue on this new Oxygen OS version.

    Hello guys,
It's been 24 hours since I installed the 9.0.4 update, and I'm happy to say that multitasking on my phone has been significantly improved (not as dope as in speed tests <running Oreo>), but I'm able to leave my game, PUBG, for a significant amount of time, reply messages, open a web page or two and still meet the app in memory.

I even left it overnight (just wanted to be crazy) and I woke up to the game still in memory.

I didn't believe OnePlus would fix it, but they have.

Thanks to everyone of you for taking the time to comment on this thread.
And to those that had the same issue, I hope it's a lot better now.

Kuddos to the OnePlus developer team.

    Cheers.

I've noticed a new option under Oneplus lab menu, called Smart Boost. It says it is going to make a better use of RAM based on apps I commonly use. Did anyone enable it? Felt any improvement?
