    Hallo,

    I wish I knew!
I have never used it without a case and the tempered glass screen protector. Also the phone has never been dropped or bumped into anything. That is why I was very surprised there was suddenly a crack.

Great thread, there really is no pleasing some people.
The no.1 rule in most things is protect your investment and some of you boys didn't, that is the long and short of it.
One would think OP builds some sort of super phone listening to you boys.

Intersting to see so many people claiming it cracked on it's own.
It is possible that the glass cracked without the phone being dropped, as a high gloss finish would require some sort of glazing which is vulnerable to tension. Which in turn can cause an effect called grazing as seen in high gloss ceramic tiles.
But alot of the illustrations on show seem to have an impact point, like the one seen on my current TGSP and they all seem to be on the side like the one seen on my current TGSP.
I will know how mine came about and the was impact, protect your investment and stop buying fashion style covers for those who didn't buy a proper case.

I do not think it's spontaneous damage. There is an impact clearly. I doubt that the technical service thinks differently.

So, I've been skimming through and observing grievances and posts in the thread. Glass, even by default, Gorilla or Monkey brand, is strong. And glass needs impact or strain to reach the point of turning brittle and shattering or cracking.

People need to realise that they have to invest in good protection (puns galore). The two best options available right now are:
    >> GadgetShieldz (all round screen protector, front, sides and back): https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/oneplus-6-screen-protectors-covers-cases.html
    >> Rhinoshield (their infamous 'Crash Guard', 'Solid Suit' and 'Impact Guard/ Impact Guard Flex' screen protectors for front and back): https://rhinoshield.io/pages/shop/OnePlus?device=oneplus-6&prod=oneplus-6-pre-pre-order

And for those complaining about build integrity of the OP6, I'll just leave this here for ya'll to watch:

P.s., also to mention, most users here, put their phones in their side pant pockets. If wearing jeans and having thick thighs, your phone will be subjected to the curve of your thigh and the pressurized stretch of your legwear. What's also to state, sitting on a bike or in a car, the bend caused by your hips exerts even more pressure on the glass back - any glass-backed device.

For instance, observe what happens to your wallet or leather belt after constant usage, it conforms to the shape of your body. Your phone, on the other hand, is a sandwich of glass and metal, solid glass and metal, which has to reach a breaking point at some point.
