Download the stable version from the Oneplus site and install it from the local storage, make sure that you copy your whole data as this would wipe out everything.

Copy your data? As in back it up? Or is this an option to copy when installing the update?

copy it on your PC, cause going back to stable version would wipe off all your data.

Upgrading through a full ROM will not wipe your data nor require you to do so. Downgrading will require a factory reset (wipe).

I don't know the technical details as to why there is a difference, so I won't come with a guesswork. All I can say is that I've upgraded my OP1, OP2 and OP6 with full ROMs without having to wipe and without losing data.

bruh when I clicked, it started downloading immediately. I didn't get to see where it said 9.0.3 so I was a bit skeptical. Can u link me to the website where it says 9.0.3?

I just got it from post #282 by @RASTAVIPER at the top of this page. I downloaded it myself and have installed it, so I can confirm it's version 9.0.3 (notice the _028_ in the filename - 9.0.2 is _027_). Alternatively, you can of course wait for the OTA to arrive by itself.

    9.0.3 is already out.

Based on the official bimonthly update schedule, expect a 9.0.4 in the beginning of March.
