try changing the animation effect to 'wave'...not sure if it's just an illusion but the accuracy seems to have improved since I've done that..'cosmos' could possibly be failing since the effect dilutes brightness for the optical sensor...
and of course the optics get better with usage..

How can I turn off the "Fingerprint Animation Effect"? It is way too bright at night. It should never be brighter than whatever the display brightness is set at. I also hope that turning it off will make the fingerprint scanner faster, like it was on my 2 year old 3T. Please add a function to turn off the animation and get the scanner faster so that I don't have to return this phone and go back to my 3T, which really worked perfectly fine still. Thanks!

I've seen no setting, nor any report, for turning off the FPR animation. As for the actual screen-brightening when you press your finger on the screen, that is by design. It's required to get an accurate reading of your FP.

i figured this out before seeing this thread. I swear I was having a hard time using the default animation effect and decided to try another one. I used wave and haven't had a failure yet.

It is still very slow in comparison to my 3T, which was near instant.

Who would have expected that a scanner in a phone that is 2-3 years older is so much faster. Who cares about an in screen fingerprint scanner if it doesn't work well. There are so many posts already complaining about the slow response of the scanner. It does not matter that it is a different type of scanner and everyone should accept a snail type speed.

Mine isn't slow. Quite comparable to the other phones I've had with capacitive FPRs (Moto and Sammy).

I think indisplay fingerprint scanner is not upto the mark right now this tech is need to be reviewed and then it should be activated in the op devices right now this tech is not working smoothly and have various issues and also it is not working like the normal finger print sensors and are quite weak player in this unlocking game. This tech need a little more time and enhancements in order to make it useful for users

re-scanning finger again and position it the way you want your finger scanned all the time will help. I find the scanner on 6t on par with most of brand flagships. ALL brand of smartphones with scanner always have whiners on how they scan and those guys will never get satisfied. If you're not satisfied with the 6t then sell it to eBay and buy yourself a $1000 phone and let us know what you think.
