I also faced the same issue in my oneplus 7 pro
I was trying to add my face data and it prompted me to enter the password, upon entering the settings app crashed
I reopened settings app to do the above steps again and it crashed again

Then I thought to restart my phone, only to find myself unable to get into phone as it doesn't accept password. When I entered correct password it gets in (for 1 sec) and then goes back to lock screen
if I entered incorrect password it tells incorrect pin, so the behaviour is different to wrong pin

I tried to enter password in recovery mode, then it starts decrypting then within a sec , phone vibrates and goes back to password entry in recovery mode

going to service center, they said they don't have any fix for this and just did phone reset by reinstalling OS to 10.0.1

as per the guy who did OS restore, he said it could be possible that over WiFi automatic OS update faced some issue that caused this problem

but I'm not convinced that phone will install OS update on its own. I can understand phone auto downloading the update file but it shouldn't prompt and ask user to install an update. however there's no proof to say that this issue occurred due to automatic OS update (apparently 10.0.2) was rolled out yesterday

    thanks
    Amit

I just came across this issue, my phone ran off battery so I went ahead and plugged it in and when it started It was no longer accepting my PIN. the PIN I was using is the correct one since it doesn't say "wrong password" when I type it in and I see when the phone unlocks for less than a second and then it gets locked again. Had to do a factory reset.

Same issue faced by me today on Oneplus 7. Entering correct PIN won't unlock and even recovery will not accept correct PIN. Visited Oneplus Service Center and they did Factory Reset as they told there is no other way to use phone again. Lost all my data as I recently transferred all my backup from old phone to new Oneplus 7. Its just 7 days old, Very bad experience.

At service center they said its Software issue and maybe caused by a faulty Update, back end team is working to fix it. Now I am thinking not to use a PIN at all, will use Pattern or fingerprint.

    Facing the same issue!

My phone received an OTA system update, and after installation I rebooted it. After reboot, I tried logging in with PIN and it unlocks for a second or two then locks itself automatically. Can't use fingerprint unlock since it is rebooted. I tried going into master reset mode and it's the same issue there as well. This really sucks.

I am unable to get in the phone after entering the PIN as there's no option to say 'OK'. I only have numbers and 'DELETE' option on the PIN pad. Has this happened to others as well?

Same problem. Phone was working fine, suddenly it asked for pin to unlock and now it is now accepting password. I had enabled quick unlock feature so don't have "Submit" button. Please help.

    Model: Oneplus 6
    OS Update: 10.0.3

Is there any solution to this? I have had to do factory reset 5-6 times this week, don't know why it's happening.

Oneplus, after update for OS. I am unable to enter both my oneplus 6 and 7T pro as system prompt incorrect pin. I had to do a factory reset. Please fix this issue as this is totally unacceptable. I do not want to factory reset every time this happens.

I think this is a serious bug with OnePlus brand models and need a fix immediately. Basically, underlying problem is, for problematic brand new phones, user who ignores or forgets to install system updates and starts using phone as is, and sets up PIN or pattern for unlocking screen and restarts phone, finally reach to this dead end where phone asks for password which he never setup and he has no option other than hard reset and lose all data. After restart, phone should check that if user has setup password or PIN or pattern and should ask the user accordingly. Currently the restarted phone without system updates is asking for password blindly without even checking that user has even really setup password or PIN or pattern. I am sharing my experience and my solution on this problem. I bought a brand new one plus 7T, unpacked it and completed all initial setup steps like linking google account, security by setting up PIN etc. I Installed all required apps and in the meanwhile my phone battery drained out and it got shut down. When I charged battery and started again, it has started asking me password which I never setup. I tried many times but I was pretty sure I never setup password or pattern. I contacted support chat, searched many articles, finally hard reset was the only way to get my phone working again but with loss of all my data. But with the fear that again if I setup PIN and phone restart, it will give me same problem. Then just for exploring the permanent solution, I installed android updates by going to Settings->System-> System Updates, downloaded all updates till the screen showed message 'Your system is up to date'. Updates which I installed was 'Oxygen OS 10.3.2.HD65AA'. And again to replicate the problem, I setup PIN for this phone and similar to last time, I haven't setup my password and pattern. And again I restarted my phone. Finally, this time, it asked my PIN to unlock my phone. Then I tried setting up pattern and restarted, then it asked my pattern to unlock. So, this has resolved my problem permanently. At least till next time I hard reset my phone. Hope this helps others who are facing the same issue.
