Oneplus 7 Pro ambient display not working

    People saying that it's working fine for them simply aren't in the right conditions to replicate the issue. Mine will work fine for a while, then simply stop working in a dim environment. I have updated to the latest version, cleared all of the caches, and restarted several times. No, it's not working fine. There's still a bug with the light sensor.

    I noticed that if I have been using my phone in daylight for example, turn off the display, and go to a darker environment, ambient display will work but only once. This seems to be the only case when it works for me in darker environments. I truly hope this will get fixed.

    I leave the phone turned on when I sleep (obviously deep dark) it works before I fall asleep and it works also in the morning after one night of dark...

    Same here. I think this was just a bone to call off the dogs for a day. All it did was aggravate them even more.

    my oneplus 7 pro from Tmobile has the same problem. I had an security patch update for april yerterday but the problem still there. The double tap to wake does not work and the pick your phone to wake also does not work. It works randomly and as i read from previous chats, it looks like there is a bug with the light sensor, i am not sure but it could be the reason.
    Please oneplus send an update to solve this issue, this is a frustrating issue with a new phone. Do not wait until unbox therapy show this problem in his youtube channel where millions of people could learn about this and other issues and not buying this phone anymore. Thank you

    update, i have the tmobile version for United States 8 GB Ram and 256 GB. Model GM1915 Build Number Oxygen OS 9.5.6 GM31CB
    I have the Security patch level : April 1, 2019

    The ambient display and the double tap to wake are working randomly, when i move the phone from a light place to a dark place. The horizontal light feature works with delay. Please i need the update.

    I also had the low light issue but after the last update, my phone has no more problems.
    Ambient display, notifications as well as double tap is working as expected. No matter if daylight, low light or night.
    So everything is fine since 3 days.

    1.Go to dialer and enter *#808#
    2. Go to device debugging tab and select proximity sensor test.
    3. Make sure nothing is covering the phone and tap the offset calibrate button until you see the pass notification. Do this for both the 2cm and 4cm thresholds .
    4. Close the dialer and select double tap to wake ...success!
