Oh ok, gotcha! Yeah some devices before the 7/7 Pro had not so great Battery results. I know some people had 6-7 hrs of SOT on the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T which I think they're always on their phone very hard or something.

SOT means as little as benchmarks do, we all use our phones differently with different apps etc... I have had a 1, 3 and 5t and never had bad battery life as I don't set my expectations too high or compare with others..

This is day two with this phone:
The first thing I did after getting the phone was to run all updates and get it set up with all my apps. Initially I set it up with high performance settings and marveled at how beautifully it ran (plugged in). This morning when I got up, I put it in battery saver mode to get ready to go to work. 8 hours later, in 2 hours 49 minutes of screen time, it dropped 75% in the battery saving mode. Brightness is automatically adjusting, and relatively dim. I would say about half of that was in a game (not gaming mode) and the rest was surfing the web.

So far I am absolutely dissatisfied with the battery. It looks like I can't even get through a work day without a charge, certainly not if I do much on it. I am wondering if I need to take it back at this point. I don't want a phone that's only great when it's plugged in.

it will get better cuz the phone optimizes it self plus turn off Bluetooth NFC location when you don't use them. there are many things that matter

Gotta say I'm quite happy. QHD+ and 90hz. It's been consistent.

It's pretty ridiculous. At idle the phone displays 25 to 30 degrees battery temp. When I start playing a specific game it goes within 5 min to 35 / 40 degrees. I hate heat and don't wanna stress the phone further. Got it on fhd instead of qhd and 60hz instead 90hz and some other tweaks.

Already ordered a grip with some cooling fans...

My 7 Pro gets warm during charging but that's expected, never felt it's been *too* warm even if i've been playing games while charging.

Just a bit of positive feedback amongst the rest :)

Cool. Could you do me a favour?
If you can download TorqueDrift and play it for like 5 min and tell me what the temperature is.

I've just been testing again and put the game on low settings it gets to the 37 degrees mark around 15 / 20 min of playing time. What is considered too hot on the battery or cpu?

A quick search gave me this.

    Charge temp 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F)
    Discharge temp –20°C to 60°C (–4°F to 140°F)

I read a pretty detailed article a week ago or so. The optimal discharge temperature was up to 35°C. They had graphs that showed degradation over time based on temperatures and stuff. But the idea I got was that the wear caused by being at 40°C for example would not be that noticeable as a normal user compared to the wear that actually charging the device does.
I didn't find the same article this time though... There are pretty many put there.

The max temperature on the cpu seems to be somewhere above 80°C. Somewhere above it starts to clock down to prevent harmful temperatures.

The best thing you can do is to play a game naked without a case on, or even use one of those gamepad units with cooling fans on that provides better grip and active cooling.
