So these cameras aren't very good. A 48 mp sensor should be full of detail when zooming in and it just isn't. Each file size using the 48 mp camera is 1.7 ish MB and the resolution is about 4000 by 1800 48 mp should be around 8000 by 5000 and the file size should be way bigger. In open camera it shows as if it was a 12 mp lens so idk am I stupid? I hope I'm not alone on this. Maybe they're just bad sensors.

remember you only use the the full 48mp in pro mode. aside from pro mode, every other mode downsamples the picture into a 12mp picture. and the ultrawide camera is 8 mp. So, that might be the misunderstanding you're running into. I had the same misunderstanding but later confirmed through research that this is how the camera works

I will agree though that the camera is disappointing. I'm patiently waiting for the update to make the cameras better, should be coming soon

yea I did some research too! turned out the 48 mp Is 12 mp since it's quadbayer which is supposed to give you way better photos, but I don't see that. photos are grainy even in decent lighting. 4k video doesn't have the wow factor that my lg had. hopefully they fix it soon. the sensors are Sony sensors which makeup most of all phone cameras and Sony sensors are quite good!

I believe that video is talking about the zoom lens. I'm talking about the main lens.

Darn it I just bought the phone. I was thinking of returning. I was very optimistic coming to oneplus from iphone 10. but now... idk anymore. I am reading all this stuff about the cameras. I need an opinion. Should I keep the phone or refund it? I have asked the same question in another thread... just want more feedback.

I mean if you really want a great camera and you use it quite often then iPhone would be best. but I like all the features that the OnePlus has like the fingerprint sensor in the screen. the fact that the phone is just about all screen! the battery life is great! it has really great specs! I don't care a whole lot about the camera. everything else about the phone is great especially for 699$ most high end phones like apple and Samsung can cost 800-1200$ and for all that you get for 699$ it's a heck of a deal. like one of the other users said when you use the camera in pro mode you do get 48 megapixels and you can get better results with it. maybe they'll tweak it with an update in the up coming weeks.

you're right about the camera part. I don't use my camera on my iphone. My photo gallery is empty and i am a rare social media user. I do like rest of the features. I got the 7pro that's $750 plus accessories. Sadly they dont give you headsets especially when they excluded headphone jack. I do like my brothers oneplus 6T and my wife's 6. I will keep it for about 2 weeks and see what happens. it has a 15 day refund policy.

yea I was hesitant to goto a oneplus from lg, but lg keeps bringing gimmicky stuff to the table and they still have a notch and I'm tired of notches. one thing that I don't like is that the one plus 7 pro has no headphone jack. I keep trying to connect headphones to it. though I do have type headphones. I'm used to having a headphone jack.

Camera is just terrible. Google Pixel 3A has so much better photographic capabilities. Anyone buying the 7 pro hoping that out will take great pictures will be disappointed.

The colours and details are totally lacking.
GCam APK helps a bit by improving the photos but they still are not at post with S10+.

In additional the battery life is bad if you have high screen time. It won't last even a day.

Overall there's hype around this release but practically this one is a bit of a letdown.
Maybe the 7 by itself at 20k less is better as who wants to pay 20k for just a fancy screen and a bigger rom.

I have to say I am horrendously disappointed with it. I've initiated a return and gone back to my S7 Edge. The main reason I bought the +7 Pro was for the camera, speed and battery.

The camera is woefully disappointing. I honestly cant tell any difference from pics taken with my S7, even in the pro setting. Im used to all the tricks and hacks as Ive used a DSLR forever, but even pro mode the pictures are disappointing. To the point of me thinking the marketing photos of 'selfies' were probably not taken with this phone. If i didnt know better id say the photos came from a knock off phone from china.

I love that it's fast, i like the big screen. I like the in screen fingerprint. Not a fan of the curved screen edge or lack of a physical home button but i guess thats the way most phones are going now.

But the few seconds saved opening apps, the bigger screen ... is it worth burning 700 quid? no way.

I thought this would be an amazing phone for snapping pics while out and about and it would be able to go macro - wide - tele, adjust exposures all automatically for the best pic, but the pictures are crazily bad - the light balance is always wrong, there seems to be a very shallow depth of field, even when using pro mode and setting a low f-stop (thought that would sort the blur, focus and overexposure but nah).

It's a fast phone with some novelties and good marketing. I give it 3 out of 10

Im gonna try the oppo 10x.

So much negativity around here... The cameras of the OnePlus 7 pro aren't bad, at all. If you expect that a 48 mpx sensor behaves the same as a sensor with all those megapixels would in a full-frame camera well then, of course, you will be disappointed.

I am a photographer and I think that these phone cameras are incredibly underrated. Any camera is a bad camera if you have no idea how to use it. Probably other companies develop easier softwares for their cameras so they look "better" without doing anything using IA or presets, so yeah you might be better with another phone... Just find whatever makes you happy, as everyone should do!

The camera is definitely the weakest link here... it is woefully underwhelming.... the 48mp is nothing more than a marketing gimmick... if a 48mp sensor will take the same pictures as a 12mp sensor what else will you infer?

Will definitely migrate to something else soon. Another gripe with this is it's enormous weight. feels like a brick in the hand but that's another story.
