I've been scouring the Play store for essentially a "notification LED" replacement, as I'm coming from the 3T. As others have explained, I do see this "edge lighting" thing happen when a new notification is posted, but I have to be almost anticipating it or I won't see it.

And, much like everyone else, definitely want to see the edge lights pulse every so often. I'm not attached to my phone, like the kids are these days :) [that's how you use those, right?] so my phone does just sit across the room from time to time. I'd like to be able to glance at it and have it blink something at me every so often to let me know if something is up on the Crisis Monitor™ at work.

    honestly I'm shocked !
how Oneplus didn't take care of this important feature !

we need a reliable solution !!
it should serve as a notification LED ( by keeping flashing/ pulsing) until you see it ...at the end this is the purpose ...to notify you ...not just to blink one time only .

we are waiting for this... we desperately hope it will be included in the next update .

Easy peazy... You drink a 7Up (aka The Uncola) while you're toggling the setting off, and Bob's your uncle ;-).

Seriously though, I had the same reaction as you - what the heck is an unclick?

For anyone still interested in an app that does what many of us are looking for, I tested numerous and settled on the very simple Plus Beat. It's a lightweight app (always running, remove from optimization) that wakes up the display iff (that's "if and only if") you have a notification, from any app you want. You can customize some aspects of colour / icon. Although it says works on the 6T, I can confirm it works on the 7 Pro as well.

Ambient display would light up for every notification unless you specifically mute notifications for a particular thing. i have muted notifications for whatsapp group messages. Hence!

Odd, have the settings turned on but have never had it work. Will try to clear cache to see if that helps.

Ah, it only lights up once. Very easy to miss if you are not looking at your phone the second it gets the message.

I would also really love to see the option to customize the edge lighting.

I just got my OnePlus 7 Pro. My very first OnePlus. This is super important. The use case is simple. I need to know at a glance, across from my work table, exactly what and which people are trying to reach me, and for what priority. RGB colors and different signaling patterns make this a cinch. When I come back into the shop, one glance at the phone on the bench, and I know if I need to pick it up right away or not. I know if I even need to think about picking it up. That's the use case for me, and it's miserable not having that.
