Apparently it's intentionally set like that by the company, portraita are supposed to have that focal length as they claim. I don't like it either. I hope they give us an option to switch to any length we want for portraits.

I can confirm the same with me running on 9.5.7. Gcam portrait mode is not zooming in for example.

portrait mode uses the 2.2x telephoto lens. verify by covering the bottom cam w your finger.

    this lens produces better portraits

I'm glad people have already spoken about the portrait zoomed in issue. I definitely like the portrait mode on OnePlus 6T way more. And I'm also pretty sure that initially my OnePlus 7pro didn't have this bug or whatever it is that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. if this was intended - it's the biggest inconvenience. Please, fix this! Thank you!

That lens doesn't product better portrait because it has an inferior sensor to the main lens. Hence why people are getting washed out picture due to the crappy dynamic range of the crappy zoom camera. A solution would be to let people choose both normal and zoom lens in portrait mode.

not everyone agrees. the effect might be good, but the zoom has made taking portraits from a casual distance impractical.

I mean look at this pic, taken from a similar distance . I could manage to get a decent picture with a OnePlus 7.

couldn't even manage to get face in 7pro.

people need to have the option to choose between zoomed pic and normal pic.
